UKRAINE – A.Celli, a provider of cutting-edge machinery and advanced technologies for paper and nonwovens, has recently installed a new iDEAL® tissue line at Kochavinska Paper Factory in Ukraine.

Through adept planning and innovative techniques, A.Celli managed the plant’s installation, commissioning, and start-up with minimal field resources, leveraging intensive remote support.

This accomplishment again underscores the company’s commitment to standing by its customers in any circumstance.

The tissue paper production line at Kochavinska Paper Factory comprises an iDEAL® START 1.500 tissue machine, an R-WAY® roll handling system, and a three-ply E-WIND® T80S slitter rewinder.

Notably, the tissue machine boasts the newly integrated A.Celli EVO-LOCK® Yankee Dryer. In this instance, the dryer features a 12’ diameter, catering to a paper width of 2850 mm at the reel.

This innovative Yankee Dryer, an evolution of the prior A.Celli FORGED YD, preserves the forged steel shell concept of its predecessor while introducing a patented connection system between heads and shells that eliminates the need for welds or bolts.

The system not only reduces inspection requirements inherent in a forged shell solution but also enhances efficiency and safety, maintaining the proven drying capacity of an A.Celli Yankee Dryer.

Following the successful start-up, Mr. Roman Vasilyevich Pirig, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Kochavinska Paper Factory, expressed his satisfaction: “We are delighted to witness the operation of this production line, particularly considering the evident challenges posed by the prevailing circumstances.

“The joint efforts of A.Celli and Kochavinska teams have yielded excellent results, and we are confident that the line, equipped with this innovative Yankee Dryer concept, will be a source of considerable satisfaction for us.”

In a supportive gesture, Mr. Yaroslav Melnyk, the Ukrainian Ambassador, remarked, “The Embassy of Ukraine in Italy is proud to have facilitated this project, enabling the modernization of production at the Ukrainian Kochavinska Factory with top-notch Italian technologies and equipment.

“The continuity and advancement of production, particularly in vital sectors like paper, during times of conflict is immensely significant to us.

“I am hopeful that numerous Italian entrepreneurs will follow A.Celli’s exceptional lead and initiate collaborative ventures with Ukrainian partners shortly.”

In 2021, Kochavinska Paper Factory invested €4 million (US$4.27m) in a Maflex-supplied Hermes line to double its capacity.

The scope of supply included a turn-key solution 600m/min consumer converting line and a packaging line, complete with the Heracle automatic change embossing technology.

According to the machinery supplier, JCS Kochavinska invested to enter the top-quality virgin tissue paper market, having previously just produced and converted recycled paper.
