The company is also expanding its LamiBak product line, which is suitable for various applications.

FINLAND – Ahlstrom is set to unveil an expanded range of sustainable release and label papers for pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) applications, emphasizing eco-friendly solutions for the labeling industry.
The range will be unveiled during the Labelexpo Europe 2025, a global hub for label and package printing.
The event will provide a platform for Ahlstrom to demonstrate its commitment to sustainability through innovative fibre-based materials designed to reduce environmental impact and promote circularity.
Ahlstrom’s new product lineup includes low-impact supercalendered release papers that leverage the company’s proprietary Acti-V technology.
This technology streamlines the silicone coating and curing process, cutting down on energy, catalyst, and silicone use.
The Acti-V RF liners, incorporating 15% post-consumer recycled (PCR) fibers, are offered in light yellow and white shades.
Additionally, the Acti-V RF Natural liners combine at least 50% unbleached fibers with a minimum of 15% PCR fibers, eliminating dyes to achieve a natural look, enhanced strength, and a reduced carbon footprint.
According to Marco Troglia, Vice President of Release Liners, “Identifying better material solutions is our ongoing commitment.”
“Our teams in Europe, the US, and Brazil continue to collaborate with customers and suppliers to make the pressure-sensitive industry more sustainable and resilient.”
This focus on collaboration has driven Ahlstrom’s recent advancements in performance and process efficiency.
The company’s acquisition of the Stevens Point facility in Wisconsin, valued at approximately US$50 million based on recent industry reports, has expanded its PSA label paper offerings.
This includes UniTherm papers for thermal transfer barcode printing, OptiPrime semi-gloss papers for UV inkjet and digital printing, and sustainable OptiPrime options with up to 30% PCR fiber content.
These products cater to diverse industries, supported by Ahlstrom’s global manufacturing network across Europe, North America, and South America, which includes facilities producing high-performance Glassine, supercalendered kraft, and clay-coated kraft liners.
In a statement, Ahlstrom highlighted its role in advancing sustainable packaging solutions, with its latest innovations expected to meet growing demand for eco-conscious labeling.
Recent industry updates indicate Ahlstrom is also exploring partnerships to integrate its Acti-V technology into new markets, such as e-commerce packaging tapes, further expanding its sustainable portfolio.
With global sales of US$3.2 billion in 2024 and a workforce of 7,000 employees, Ahlstrom continues to prioritize fiber-based solutions that address environmental challenges while maintaining high performance standards.
