FRANCE – International technology group ANDRITZ has unveiled a cutting-edge technical center in Montbonnot, France, dedicated to dry molded fiber (DMF) production.
This innovative process transforms cellulose fibers into three-dimensional products for sustainable packaging using a nearly waterless method, setting a new benchmark for eco-friendly manufacturing.
Through a strategic partnership with Swedish DMF pioneer PulPac, ANDRITZ now offers comprehensive DMF production lines.
The Montbonnot facility features a state-of-the-art pilot line, enabling the development of high-speed, turnkey solutions for industrial-scale DMF production.
The center will also support customers with trials, R&D projects, and customized product development, including unique shapes and barrier properties.
Andreas Lukas, Senior Vice President of ANDRITZ Nonwoven & Textile, emphasized, “Wood pulp processing has been a core competence of ANDRITZ for decades. Our new pilot line marks a significant step in advancing sustainable packaging solutions.
“By integrating ANDRITZ Dan-Web’s airlaid forming capabilities with PulPac’s molding technology, we aim to achieve unparalleled capacity, product quality, and flexibility.”
This new facility reflects ANDRITZ’s commitment to investing in environmentally friendly solutions that align with global green transition goals.
Major tissue production line order in Saudi Arabia
In addition to its focus on sustainable packaging, ANDRITZ has secured a major order for a high-capacity tissue production line from Juthor Paper Manufacturing Co., a subsidiary of the MEPCO Group in Saudi Arabia.
Scheduled to begin operation in 2026, this line will incorporate advanced ANDRITZ technologies to maximize energy efficiency and product quality.
Designed to be one of the fastest tissue machines globally, the line features a design speed of 2,200 m/min and a reel width of up to 5.47 meters.
The project includes a comprehensive automation and digitalization package aimed at enhancing performance and operational efficiency.
Adel Alfar, Director of Operations at Juthor Paper, highlighted the decision to partner with ANDRITZ, “We chose ANDRITZ for their cutting-edge technology and focus on optimizing energy consumption while delivering high-capacity, high-quality tissue production. Their expertise and support were instrumental in our choice.”
Through these advancements, ANDRITZ reinforces its position as a leader in sustainable and high-performance production solutions, catering to both the green packaging movement and the growing demand for energy-efficient tissue production.
