Since its inception, the drive has diverted a total of 1,998kg of electronic waste from landfills.

UAE – Aster Volunteers UAE, the global CSR arm of Aster DM Healthcare, has successfully concluded its fourth E-Waste Collection Drive, recycling 750 kilograms of electronic waste.
The initiative, part of the “Aster Green Choices” campaign, reflects the organization’s growing commitment to environmental sustainability and responsible waste management.
The latest edition of the drive saw the placement of e-waste collection boxes across nine Aster units in the UAE, including major facilities such as Aster Hospital Mankhool, Aster Hospital Sharjah, and Medcare Al Safa. Additional support came from Medcare Royal Specialty Hospital Qusais and Medcare Hospital Sharjah, which contributed further e-waste volumes.
Partnering with recycler E-Scrappy, the initiative ensures environmentally sound disposal and recycling, with Aster Volunteers UAE receiving a Green Certificate in recognition of its efforts.
Since its inception, the drive has diverted a total of 1,998 kilograms of electronic waste from landfills. Previous editions recycled 496 kg in 2020, 318 kg in 2023, and 434 kg in 2024.
Aster staff, or “Asterians,” played a pivotal role in mobilizing local communities, collecting e-waste from nearby businesses and homes.
Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman of Aster DM Healthcare, commented, “Aligned with 10 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals and guided by our ESG framework, the E-Waste Collection Drive is one of our key efforts to promote environmental responsibility.
“By encouraging community-wide action, we foster a culture of recycling and sustainability.”
The initiative is part of Aster’s broader sustainability strategy spanning GCC countries and India. The company has significantly reduced its carbon footprint, saving over 541 tCO2e through solar energy projects, and has recycled over 64,000 kilograms of waste.
Aster’s ESG report for FY 2023–24 also recorded a 1,769 KL reduction in water consumption across nine hospitals.
Recognized with multiple CSR awards and listed among Corporate Knights’ Global 100 most sustainable companies in 2022, Aster DM Healthcare continues to prioritize climate action, waste segregation, and community empowerment.
Future plans include more e-waste drives and increased investments in renewable energy.
With over 85,000 volunteers and 6.5 million lives impacted globally, Aster Volunteers is helping to shape a greener, healthier future—one initiative at a time.
