Granules can deliver up to 40% cost savings compared with virgin plastics.

INDIA — Avro Recycling, a subsidiary of Indian plastic-moulded furniture manufacturer Avro India Limited, has inaugurated India’s largest flexible plastic recycling plant in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, marking a major step forward in the country’s circular economy and industrial rPET adoption.
The greenfield facility currently processes 500 tonnes of plastic per month, with plans to double output to 1,000 tonnes per month by early 2026, according to an official statement issued on 8 January.
The plant targets historically difficult-to-recycle plastics, including PET, cement bags, sugar bags, and calcite packaging, which were often downcycled or discarded.
Avro’s advanced technology enables upcycling at scale, supporting the responsible processing of nearly 1 million tonnes of plastic waste annually.
The recycled granules, including rPET, are intended for high-value applications such as plastic furniture, automotive components, and consumer goods.
Avro says these granules can deliver up to 40% cost savings compared with virgin plastics while meeting stringent durability and compliance standards, making them a viable sustainable alternative for manufacturers.
The launch comes amid rising regulatory and market pressures to increase recycled content in plastics.
India’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) norms require at least 30% recycled content in rigid plastics, fuelling demand for high-quality rPET.
Avro Recycling’s new facility is positioned to meet this surge by supplying consistent volumes of industrial-grade recycled plastic at scale.
“India faces a significant challenge in managing flexible and hard-to-recycle plastics. Our facility not only addresses this gap but also demonstrates that upcycling can be economically and environmentally viable,” said an Avro spokesperson.
“By integrating advanced recycling technology with industrial-scale production, we aim to create circular solutions that benefit both manufacturers and the environment.”
Industry analysts note that India’s rPET market is poised for rapid growth as brands and converters adapt to regulatory requirements and sustainability targets.
Facilities such as Avro Recycling’s Ghaziabad plant are expected to play a pivotal role in reducing plastic waste, supporting domestic manufacturing, and accelerating circular economy initiatives.
With this launch, Avro Recycling positions itself as a key enabler of sustainable plastics in India, combining technological innovation, industrial-scale production, and compliance-ready recycled materials to meet the needs of a growing market.
