Borouge strengthens sustainability with US$100M supply agreements

UAE – Borouge Plc, a leading petrochemicals company specializing in innovative polyolefins solutions, has announced new supply agreements and collaborations worth over US$100 million (AED 367m).

These agreements reinforce Borouge’s commitment to sustainability and delivering cutting-edge materials.

Alongside these partnerships, the company unveiled three advanced packaging solutions aimed at solving real-world challenges.

The agreements include partnerships with Bericap, Taghleef Industries, INDEVCO Group, and ALPLA.

Bericap will utilize Borouge’s advanced polyethylene and polypropylene for high-performance closures and dispensing systems, while Taghleef Industries will produce durable and flexible packaging films.

INDEVCO Group will focus on sustainable packaging solutions, and ALPLA will develop high-quality, smart advanced packaging solutions.

These collaborations address evolving industry needs by improving product safety, reducing food waste through extended shelf life, and enhancing recyclability to reduce environmental impact.

Around 80% of Borouge’s polyolefin products are differentiated, targeting high-growth sectors like energy, infrastructure, mobility, healthcare, agriculture, and advanced packaging.

The company is advancing a zero-waste strategy by integrating virgin and recycled polyolefin solutions to promote circularity.

In another move, Borouge partnered with Tahzeem Packaging and Rebound to develop heavy-duty shipping sacks containing 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) polyethylene.

This initiative showcases Borouge’s ability to leverage advanced technologies and strategic partnerships to accelerate sustainability goals for its customers.

Hazeem Sultan Al Suwaidi, CEO of Borouge, commented on the developments, “By providing high-quality and differentiated polyolefin solutions, we enable our partners to enhance product durability, improve recyclability, and reduce environmental impact.

“Our materials are engineered to meet the evolving needs of advanced packaging, ensuring efficiency, safety, and long-term performance.

“Through these partnerships, Borouge is strengthening supply chains and shaping the future of sustainable manufacturing by delivering innovative solutions that create real value for customers and industries.”

Borouge has also introduced a range of advanced materials built on Borealis’ proprietary Borstar® technology. These include the Anteo™ FK1510 and FK1516 series, designed to extend food shelf life, reduce waste, and ensure full recyclability.

Additionally, the durable BF971MO material has been created for extreme climates and demanding industrial applications, while the sustainable BB1530 polymer is already being used in floating solar technology and large water tanks.

Through its innovative solutions and strategic collaborations, Borouge continues to lead the industry in delivering advanced materials that enhance sustainability and drive progress across multiple sectors.
