CCL Industries to acquire ALT Technologies for US$32M, expanding automotive safety portfolio

The acquisition will create a new automotive safety business unit within CCL Design.

NETHERLANDS – CCL Industries has signed an agreement to acquire Advanced Safety Technologies and its subsidiaries, collectively known as ALT Technologies, for approximately US$32 million in an all-cash, debt-free transaction.

The deal is pending regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions, with completion expected in the second quarter of 2026.

The acquisition will see ALT Technologies integrated into a newly created automotive safety business unit under CCL Design.

CCL Industries President and CEO Geoffrey Martin said the partnership builds on a long-standing relationship spanning more than two decades.

“We have known ALT and its management for over 25 years and followed them as they developed into a global leader in the airbag industry. The acquisition will create a new automotive safety business unit within CCL Design, and we look forward to welcoming the talented ALT team to our Company,” Martin said.

ALT Technologies is a key supplier of covers, wraps, seals, and durable labels used in automotive airbags, along with high-performance printed components for both automotive and industrial customers.

The company operates manufacturing facilities in the Netherlands, Romania, China, and Mexico, and has established itself as a specialist in die-cut, self-adhesive and printed components designed for demanding, safety-critical environments.

For the 12 months ending 30 November 2025, ALT reported US$67 million in sales with an adjusted EBITDA margin of 11.3%, reflecting solid profitability and stable demand within the global automotive safety systems market.

Until the deal is finalized, ALT Technologies will continue operating independently.

Jean-Luc Verstraeten, CEO of ALT Technologies, said the acquisition aligns with the company’s long-term growth strategy.

“We believe CCL Industries is well-positioned to support the next phase of ALT Technologies’ development, bringing additional industry experience and a global footprint that will reinforce continuity, reliability, and long-term support for our customers,” he said.

The move builds on recent acquisitions by CCL Industries aimed at strengthening its global manufacturing footprint and expanding its specialty labels and functional components portfolio.

These include the acquisition of Creaprint SL in Spain, a specialist in in-mould labels (IML), and Super Enterprises Printing (Malaysia), which focuses on premium label and packaging solutions for Asian markets.

As automotive manufacturers accelerate the adoption of advanced safety systems and increase localization of supply chains, the integration of ALT Technologies is expected to enhance CCL’s ability to serve global OEMs with engineered components and high-specification labelling solutions across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
