AFRICA – Bboxx, a cutting-edge utility company offering off-grid solar power and essential services, has finalized a deal with EnerTech for a US$100 million electrification platform in Africa.

Signed during COP28, this partnership signifies a shared commitment to delivering clean technologies, propelling Bboxx’s reach from 3.6 million people to an anticipated 36 million by 2028.

This collaboration marks a transformative phase in Bboxx’s efforts to impact lives across sub-Saharan Africa, spanning from Lagos to Nairobi.

Bboxx’s strategy involves providing innovative products at scale, connecting consumers throughout the continent.

At the core of its rapid scalability is Bboxx Pulse®, an integrated operating system and an extensive network that facilitates access to clean energy, clean cooking, smartphones, smart financing, and e-mobility—many of which are accessed for the first time by these communities.

The funding from this initial deal with EnerTech, scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2024, will expedite the development and deployment of these critical services.

This investment significantly amplifies Bboxx’s market reach, consequently enhancing its impact on underserved individuals and communities.

Mansoor Hamayun, CEO at Bboxx, expressed, “Through this strategic partnership, Bboxx will escalate the impact we make on communities across sub-Saharan Africa.

“Our vision is to transform our customers’ lives and prospects by granting them access to clean and affordable energy, clean cooking, e-mobility, and transformative technologies like smartphones, unlocking their potential day by day.

“This collaboration with EnerTech underscores our dedication to delivering sustainable solutions to African communities. It’s a testament to partners recognizing the immense market potential and aligning with Bboxx’s vision, built through green tech and big data and designed for scalability.”

Abdullah Al Mutairi, CEO of EnerTech, noted, “Through our alliance with Bboxx, we’re fulfilling our mission to drive impactful, transformative projects that uplift climate-affected, underserved communities.

“The electrification platform will funnel vital climate finance into projects poised to positively impact these communities—aligning with the UN Sustainable Development Goal for providing affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy access.

‘This collaboration is pivotal in our journey towards carbon neutrality and fostering tangible change on the ground.”

This announcement heralds the start of a series of strategic partnerships with the State of Kuwait, which targets achieving Net Zero by 2060 and plays a crucial role in shaping and advancing the carbon market in Africa.
