FRANCE – Malo Dairy, a French dairy brand under SILL Enterprises, has launched its latest ultra-high-temperature (UHT) milk product in Pure-Pak cartons developed by Elopak, a global provider of sustainable carton packaging and filling solutions.
The launch marks another milestone in the long-standing partnership between SILL and Elopak, which has now spanned three decades.
The UHT milk is produced using an aseptic filling line installed by SILL’s PLF Division in 2024.
The system features Elopak’s E-PS120AH filling machine, capable of handling various carton sizes and board configurations, including options with or without an aluminium barrier—allowing for enhanced flexibility and sustainability.
Michel Guigo, Development Director of SILL’s PLF Division, commented, “The Malo Dairy is at the heart of SILL operations, firmly rooted in Brittany.
“Malo milk comes exclusively from grass-fed cows on neighbouring farms, resulting in milk with a rich taste and natural nutritional value.”
He added that 2025 marks 30 years of collaboration between SILL and Elopak, a partnership focused on developing effective and environmentally responsible packaging.
Located in the historic port town of Saint-Malo, the dairy is renowned for its diverse range of products, including yoghurts, desserts, cheeses, and butter—all crafted with a focus on quality and local sourcing.
Guillaume Calmels, Managing Director at Elopak France, added, “Our partnership with SILL is built on trust, shared values, and a commitment to quality and sustainability. We’re proud that Malo has chosen our Pure-Pak Sense aseptic cartons for this important product launch.”
Elopak expands R&D with Blue Ocean Closures investment
The UHT milk launch comes shortly after Elopak announced a strategic investment in Swedish startup Blue Ocean Closures (BOC), a company developing fibre-based caps for sustainable packaging.
The move aligns with Elopak’s ‘Repackaging Tomorrow’ strategy, which aims to drive innovation and sustainability across the packaging value chain.
Through this partnership, Elopak has secured exclusive global rights to market and distribute BOC’s fibre-based moulded closures for gable-top cartons, including the widely used Pure-Pak and D-PAK formats.
Elopak CEO Thomas Körmendi said, “BOC’s technology presents a compelling opportunity to reduce plastic usage while supporting our commitment to renewable, low-carbon packaging solutions.
“This partnership complements our ongoing R&D efforts and strengthens our sustainability-driven growth.”
BOC CEO Lars Sandberg echoed this sentiment, “We’re thrilled to welcome Elopak to our circle of industrial partners. Their global reach and deep experience in sustainable packaging will help accelerate our journey toward reshaping the future of packaging.”
