Erema India will operate in Vadodara and Mumbai, offering high-end technology and affordable options.

INDIA – Austrian recycling technology specialists Erema Group and Lindner Washtech have opened a new joint subsidiary, Erema India, as India accelerates toward a 60% recycled plastic content mandate for packaging by 2029.
The sales and service arm, operating from Vadodara and Mumbai, is designed to provide faster local access to high-end mechanical recycling technologies, spanning washing, extrusion and thermal decontamination.
The move reflects intensifying regulatory and market pressure on converters and brand owners to secure high-quality post-consumer recyclates.
Christoph Wöss, global sales director at Erema Group, said India’s regulatory tailwinds and rising quality expectations are reshaping the market.
“Over the past two years, we have seen in bottle-to-bottle recycling how quickly implementation progresses once the regulatory framework is set,” he noted, adding that mandatory recycling quotas for all plastic packaging will unlock “enormous potential, especially in the post-consumer sector.”
Growing market demand
India’s bottle-to-bottle recycling segment is expected to see a wave of new plant installations by 2026, driven by extended producer responsibility (EPR) enforcement and food-grade recycled PET targets.
Erema and Lindner Washtech say the new subsidiary will help recyclers comply with international food-contact standards while improving operational efficiency.
Manfred Hackl, CEO at Erema Group, described India as “one of the most dynamic markets for plastics recycling worldwide,” emphasizing that close coordination between local teams and global system expertise will be critical to supporting rapid capacity expansion.
Erema India will integrate Lindner’s washing systems with Erema’s Intarema extrusion platforms and ReFresher modules, enabling odour removal and consistent food-grade output.
The combined process chain is engineered to handle complex post-consumer streams, including polyolefins such as HDPE, LDPE and PP.
Ganesh Karankal, sales director and partner of the washing business unit at Erema India, said strong local service support and continuous upgrades would position India as “a global hub for high-quality recyclates and closed-loop recycling solutions.”
The subsidiary will also supply standardized, fast-delivery systems under the ReadyMac and ReadyWash ranges, targeting recyclers seeking cost-efficient technology.
The India expansion follows a broader internationalization strategy by Erema Group, which has recently strengthened its global service footprint amid surging recycled content demand in Asia and the Middle East.
Industry analysts note that technology providers are racing to localize operations in high-growth markets as governments tighten recycled content quotas and brand owners commit to circular packaging targets.
