Faller Packaging to start producing folding cartons in Horsens, Denmark

The plant aims to meet the growing demand for pharmaceutical packaging and will complement the existing facility in Hvidovre, Denmark.

DENMARK – Faller Packaging, the leading solution provider for pharmaceutical packaging, is set to introduce folding carton manufacturing at its new facility in Horsens, Denmark, by late 2025.

According to the company’s portfolio, Faller Packaging made a project declaration in April 2023 to consider establishing an additional production site for the Nordic market.

With a firm commitment to meeting the rising demand for pharmaceutical packaging, the new plant will be a testament to Faller Packaging’s reliability and dedication to its customers.

The plant aims to meet the growing demand for pharmaceutical packaging and will complement the existing facility in Hvidovre, Denmark.

Faller Packaging plans to increase total capacity in Denmark to approximately 900 million units each year.

Additionally, according to Faller Packaging, the Horsens facility is expected to produce up to 600 million folding cartons per year.

The opening of the new production site is a key part of Faller Packaging’s expansion strategy for its folding carton division, demonstrating the company’s confidence in its growth and prospects.

The company’s commitment to quality and efficiency is evident in its modernization efforts, with the 5,700m² building complex in Horsens already secured and modernized.

Implementation of production at the new facility will be done in stages, with future staff receiving thorough training at the Hvidovre site.

The implementation strategy aims to ensure ease of transition and operational effectiveness.

One of the advantages of the new project is that modern full-format printing presses will enable a significantly higher output per sheet than the half-format technology previously used.

The advancement is expected to improve production efficiency.

According to Faller Packaging, production will exclusively be at the Horsens site, as administrative processes will remain in the Hvidovre facility.

The two plants will work in close collaboration, with Hvidovre overseeing new customer projects and producing both special and standard folding cartons.

The Hvidovre facility will oversee new customer projects and produce both special and standard folding cartons. It will also work closely in collaboration with the Horsens facility, ensuring a seamless transition and operational effectiveness.

The establishment of the Horsens facility is expected to offer considerable benefits not only to local pharmaceutical manufacturers, who will have a reliable local supplier but also to international companies in the area, who will benefit from shorter delivery times and increased logistics flexibility.

Additionally, shorter delivery times and increased flexibility in logistics are expected to provide better services.

“The new factory is lean and combines efficiency and quality. This not only allows us to significantly increase capacity, but also strengthens our customer service on site,” said MD Christian Holmskov.

The rising demand for pharmaceutical packaging has prompted various packaging companies in the industry to develop innovative solutions. The step taken by Faller Packaging addresses the gap, and it is expected that more packaging companies will follow suit to fill it.
