Hotpack’s 2024 sustainability report highlights 97% recyclability, net-zero ambition by 2050

The company pledges net-zero emissions by 2050, backed with science-based strategies and global collaboration.

UAE – Hotpack, the UAE’s leading manufacturer of sustainable food packaging solutions, has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, showcasing major progress in its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) commitments.

A standout highlight of the report is that 97% of Hotpack’s 4,000+ product portfolio is now recyclable or environmentally friendly, underscoring its core mission to lead the region in sustainable packaging innovation.

The company outlined its target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, a pledge it is backing with science-based strategies and global collaboration.

To measure its environmental performance and identify areas of improvement, Hotpack has partnered with RWTH Aachen University in Germany to conduct a comprehensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).

This study rigorously examined the environmental impact of Hotpack’s value chain, from raw material sourcing to final product disposal, ensuring alignment with global sustainability standards.

“We are deeply committed to our sustainability goals and are confident that we will achieve our ambitious target of net-zero by 2050,” said Abdul Jebbar PB, Group CEO & Managing Director.

“Our efforts reflect a proactive approach to innovation, collaboration with global experts, and investment in eco-friendly materials that pave the way for a greener future.”

Among its key product innovations is H-PET (Hotpack-modified polyethylene terephthalate),a lightweight, fully recyclable PET material designed to lower the carbon footprint of packaging solutions significantly.

The company is also working closely with RECAPP, a digital recycling platform, to collect 40 tonnes of waste annually, diverting it from landfills and preventing an estimated 84 metric tonnes of CO₂ emissions per year.

Hotpack’s sustainability strategy goes beyond product development. It has established a Sustainable Procurement Strategy and a Supplier Code of Conduct, reinforcing expectations around ethical sourcing, environmental compliance, and labour standards.

The company’s Human Rights Policy ensures zero tolerance for forced labour and mandates responsible behaviour across its global supply chain.

In terms of people and culture, Hotpack has made significant strides in diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The company boasts 1:1 pay equity across genders, with women represented at all organizational levels. Additionally, 18% of the workforce comprises individuals from minority or vulnerable groups.

Hotpack’s employee engagement program, the Hotpack Happiness Initiative, now in its third edition, continues to focus on wellness, mental health, and progressive work policies.

On the community front, the company invests in a variety of CSR programs, from wellness events to civic awareness campaigns, reaffirming its role as a socially responsible corporate leader.

The 2024 report positions Hotpack as a benchmark for sustainability in the regional packaging industry, as it leads by example in the transition toward a circular, low-carbon economy.
