The lab is now positioned to provide credible and compliant testing services.
INDIA — Huhtamaki India has achieved a significant milestone with the accreditation of its Research & Development Laboratory in Khopoli under the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard.
The certification, granted by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), affirms the lab’s technical competence and the reliability of its testing and calibration services.
As the apex accreditation body in India for testing laboratories, NABL sets stringent benchmarks for quality and precision.
This accreditation reflects Huhtamaki’s commitment to excellence, reinforcing its ability to deliver innovative, high-performance packaging solutions backed by scientifically validated data.
The Khopoli lab plays a critical role in the development of flexible packaging materials that align with global sustainability goals.
With this NABL recognition, the lab is now positioned to provide credible and compliant testing services, enhancing the company’s capabilities in research, development, and customer support.
“This is a proud moment for us,” said a Huhtamaki India spokesperson. “The accreditation not only validates the technical rigor and quality practices followed at our R&D facility but also allows us to accelerate innovation by conducting reliable, in-house testing.
“It opens doors to deeper customer collaboration and faster market introduction of sustainable packaging solutions.”
The achievement strengthens Huhtamaki’s value proposition at a time when the industry is undergoing a shift toward circular economy principles and environmentally responsible materials.
Building on its momentum, Huhtamaki India recently secured the Gold Award in the Sustainable Flexible Packaging Converter category at the Prime Awards Packaging MEA 2025, thanks to its Omnilock Ultra PAPER—a breakthrough recyclable packaging material.
Omnilock Ultra PAPER is a fully recyclable, ultra-high barrier, heat-sealable paper solution engineered to replace traditionally non-recyclable multi-layer laminates composed of plastic and aluminium.
This innovation meets stringent functional requirements for moisture, oxygen, and aroma barriers, making it ideal for modern food and consumer goods packaging.
By pairing cutting-edge R\&D with sustainable innovation, Huhtamaki continues to lead the transformation of flexible packaging in India and beyond.
The NABL certification will further empower its teams to advance quality testing, ensure regulatory compliance, and co-create next-generation packaging solutions with brand partners.
With a focus on technical excellence and environmental stewardship, Huhtamaki India’s Khopoli lab is now better equipped to support the packaging industry’s evolution—delivering reliable, eco-conscious alternatives at a pace that meets growing global demand.
