USA – Sustainable packaging company International Paper (IP) has considered to establish a new facility in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Just after the recent ground-breaking of another packaging facility in Waterloo, Iowa, International Paper (IP) has announced its consideration of a new sustainable packaging facility in Salt Lake City, Utah. This part of the company’s packaging strategic growth plans to expand manufacturing capabilities in the US.
The aim of IP is to increase its presence in the region and seeks to meet the rising demand for high-quality, sustainable packaging solutions in the western US.
“This exploration is part of Packaging Solutions North America’s strategic growth initiative to enhance our regional manufacturing footprint in the US,” says the International Paper Packaging Group West vice-president and general manager, John Berry.
John Berry added, “Salt Lake City would be a new market for International Paper and an opportunity to better serve existing customers in the region and grow strategically with new customers.”
The company pursues that the new facility in Utah would incorporate advanced technology and equipment to facilitate the production and delivery of sustainable packaging solutions to a growing consumer base in the western US.
International paper added that specific information about the proposed facility, including capital investment, facility footprint, and potential employment opportunities, will be disclosed at the appropriate time as part of the ongoing evaluation process.
Last month, the International Paper announced plans to close five packaging sites and cut approximately 300 jobs which aimed at consolidating the company’s footprint following its recent expansion. according to Reuters.
In 2024, International Paper reported net sales of $18.6bn. It employs over 65,000 team members, with its headquarters in Memphis, Tennessee, and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). Its operations centred in London, UK.
The International Paper company operates in more than 30 countries and provides sustainable packaging solutions that contribute to global safety and productivity.
