UAE – Lootah Biofuels, a leader in biofuel production from used cooking oils, has entered discussions with Vietnam’s SAVICO Group to explore collaborative opportunities in renewable energy and green technology.
This potential partnership aligns with both Lootah Biofuels’ vision for sustainable growth and SAVICO’s role in advancing Vietnam’s circular economy.
Lootah Biofuels’ CEO, Mr. Yousif bin Saeed Lootah expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting SAVICO’s expertise in renewable projects such as offshore wind, hydrogen production, sustainable aviation fuel, and carbon certification.
“Our partnership with SAVICO aims to accelerate sustainable energy solutions, aligning with the UAE’s Net Zero targets and energy diversification strategy,” he stated.
Lootah Biofuels actively pursues sustainable partnerships, including with Malaysia’s FatHopes Energy and Deasyl SA, focusing on developing sustainable aviation fuel and advanced biofuels.
Additionally, the company is integral to the UAE Circular Economy Strategy and National Biofuels Policy, aiming to increase biodiesel’s share to 20% of the national fuel mix by 2050.
Established in 2015, Lootah Biofuels prioritizes clean energy production from waste, converting used cooking oils into biofuels that serve over 200 clients domestically, with an annual production of 6 million liters.
These biofuels significantly reduce carbon emissions, cut environmental pollution, and enhance vehicle performance by offering superior lubrication that extends engine life.
In March, Lootah Biofuels strengthened its commitment to sustainable energy by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MOEI).
Signed at Lootah’s facility in Dubai Industrial City, the MoU focuses on research, market expansion, and knowledge sharing through workshops and seminars.
The partnership, marked by H.E. Sharif Salim Al-Olama, UAE Undersecretary for Energy and Petroleum Affairs, underscores efforts to boost biofuel adoption across the UAE.
This collaboration between Lootah Biofuels and SAVICO represents a milestone in advancing sustainable energy solutions across the UAE and Vietnam, fostering innovation and supporting national strategies for cleaner, greener economies.
Last year, the company signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with biofuel feedstock supplier FatHopes Energy Sdn Bhd for the supply sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to airlines flying out from Dubai International Airport.
The MoU aimed to explore the potential development of a SAF refinery that can supply SAF to the aviation sector in Dubai or directly to the airport.
The location of the plant will be determined based on strategic factors, such as proximity to the point of consumption in Dubai or the availability of feedstock in Malaysia.
