Mondi boosts narrow reel capacity at Ružomberok mill

SLOVAKIA – Mondi, a leading sustainable packaging and paper company, has announced a significant expansion of narrow reel capacity at its mill in Ružomberok, Slovakia.

With the addition of a new slitting and rewinding unit, Mondi aims to enhance its offerings, specifically catering to printing and paper conversion needs.

Bernhard Cantzler, Marketing and Sales Director of Mondi Uncoated Fine Paper, emphasized the company’s commitment to providing customers with supply security for their paper requirements in folio and various reel widths, driving the need to extend narrow reel capacity.

This expansion enables Mondi to offer products like IQ ALLROUND Envelope and IQ UNIVERSAL Notebook in narrow reels, ensuring consistent supply for converters.

Moreover, offset and preprint papers such as MAESTRO PRINT, IQ PRINT, and DNS Performance Plus are available for professional printers, facilitating seamless print runs and improved results.

Mondi’s SCP integrated pulp and paper mill in Slovakia boasts a wide paper portfolio adhering to rigorous sustainability standards.

All uncoated fine paper brands from this site are Cradle to Cradle Certified at the Bronze level, ensuring safety and circularity.

Additionally, they carry the EU Ecolabel and are certified according to the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification or Forest Stewardship Council chain of custody requirements.

Cantzler reiterated Mondi’s commitment to sustainability, highlighting collaboration with suppliers, customers, and partners to advance towards a fully circular economy.

The company invests in climate-efficient production assets, responsibly sources 100% of its wood, and adheres to stringent European regulations and standards.

In response to the escalating demand for sustainable packaging solutions in the home and personal care (HPC) industry, Mondi has also expanded production of its EcoWicketBags at its Szada plant in Hungary.

Crafted from Mondi’s FunctionalBarrier Paper, these bags offer tailored barrier properties and protective features for diverse product requirements.

Available in multiple sizes, they provide protection throughout the filling process, transportation, and storage, while also offering branding opportunities.

EcoWicketBags are made from renewable materials and are recyclable in standard European paper recycling mills, aligning with 4evergreen guidelines and contributing to sustainable packaging practices.

Mondi’s continued investments and innovations reflect its dedication to meeting evolving market needs while championing environmental stewardship.
