PepsiCo India, Social Lab scale up sustainable waste solutions with ‘Tidy Trails’

This initiative strengthens PepsiCo India’s commitment to fostering cleaner, more sustainable urban environments.

INDIA – PepsiCo India, in collaboration with The Social Lab (TSL), has announced the expansion of its flagship plastic circularity initiative with Tidy Trails in Agra.

Tidy Trails is a community-driven program focused on responsible plastic waste management through collection, segregation, and recycling to drive long-term environmental impact.

This initiative strengthens PepsiCo India’s commitment to fostering cleaner, more sustainable urban environments.

Tidy Trails brings together local administrations, market associations, shopkeepers, and consumers to drive meaningful behaviour change around plastic waste segregation and recycling in alignment with its Partnership of Progress philosophy. This creates a collaborative model for circularity at the community level.

The Tidy Trails initiative was Launched in Agra in 2023; it has collected over 38,000 kgs of plastic waste with active participation from local shopkeepers and communities.

Tidy Trails initiative is focused on transforming plastic waste into purpose.

The program demonstrates a consistent grassroots-level impact, currently facilitating the daily collection of over 274 kg of plastic waste in Agra.

The Collected plastic is recycled into functional items such as benches and chairs, which are installed in public spaces. 

This initiative enhances the utility and aesthetics of public areas while also serving as a daily reminder of the value of sustainable living.

Tidy Trails is driving visible and lasting behavioral change through its campaigns, informative signage, and interactive community engagement.

Ms. Yashika Singh, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and Sustainability Head, PepsiCo India and South Asia, said, “On World Environment Day, the launch of Tidy Trails in Delhi and Pune, along with its expansion in Agra and Guwahati, underscores our commitment to scaling sustainable, community-led solutions for post-consumer plastic waste management. “

The success of Tidy Trails in Agra and Guwahati, driven by strong community engagement and support from local administrations, has laid a solid foundation for this next phase. We’re proud to collaborate with partners like The Social Lab and local municipalities to deliver real, on-ground impact.”

A special mobile van will be used to collect post-consumer plastic waste from local establishments, aiming to encourage citizens to maintain cleaner surroundings and foster a culture of tidiness.
