FRANCE – Sidel, the leading provider of equipment and services solutions for packaging, has introduced its new CoboReel beverage packaging solution, which combines labeling with cobotics and claims to offer three times the reel capacity of comparable machines on the market.
About a month ago Sidel had a ground breaking ceremony at the leading contract manufacturer of aseptic beverages in Vietnam, offering full-service solutions to brand owners across Southeast Asia – DenEast, to equip it with advanced aseptic PET production line.
The investment was to mark a strategic expansion to meet increasing demand for safe, high-quality nutrition products in Vietnam and the broader Southeast Asia Pacific (SEAP) region.
The new innovation, CoboReel integrates cobots to automate the reel loading process that ensures accuracy, optimizes efficiency, boosts productivity, and increases profitability.
“CoboReel minimizes errors, delays, and misplacements that can lead to unexpected downtime while eliminating the need for manual label reel changes, further reducing disruption to operations,” the company says.
Antonio Mancino, product manager for labeling at Sidel added that their customers are looking for ways to work smarter, with fewer resources and in a more efficient and intelligent way.
CoboReel frees workers from repetitive tasks and allows them to focus on value-added activities as it is loaded at the beginning of the workshift. “CoboReel’s 18-reel autonomy is the highest reel capacity on the market, ensuring full coverage throughout the entire production cycle while handling different label types and designs without the need for manual changes,” says the company.
Sidel further describes this solution as “intuitive and easy to use, with no maintenance requirements and minimal need for technical expertise, ensuring the lowest total cost of ownership.” as using it does not require specialized skills or extensive onboarding, thus addressing frequent staff turnover.
According to Sidel the automation eliminates the risk of manual errors and prevents unplanned machine stops due to uploading delays or misplacements.
CoboReel is able to manage different label types and designs autonomously hence, it is compact and flexible, with embedded traceability. The cobot offers low energy consumption (<0.5 kWh), which can help manufacturers reduce their environmental footprint.
According to Sidel,s product manager, CoboReeL sets a new standard in the industry with an unmatched reel autonomy of up to 18 reels.
