Sistema.bio expands carbon reduction efforts with Inclusive Energy acquisition

KENYA – Sistema.bio, a global leader in biogas technology, has expanded its carbon reduction capabilities by acquiring Inclusive Energy (IE), a pioneer in remote sensing for biogas and solar energy systems.

This strategic acquisition strengthens Sistema.bio’s position by integrating Inclusive Energy’s expertise in digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (dMRV), enhancing its capacity to support farmers with better carbon emission tracking and extended biogas services worldwide.

Alex Eaton, CEO and co-founder of Sistema.bio, praised the acquisition as a transformative step in the company’s commitment to climate action, “We have been thoroughly impressed by Inclusive Energy’s digital MRV platform, which we have been integrating into our biogas units as part of our global carbon emissions reduction initiatives over the past three years.

“This acquisition marks an exciting new phase, allowing us to accelerate both technologies to serve farmers better and reduce carbon and methane emissions.”

This integration aligns with Sistema.bio’s goal is to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions by 1% annually by 2030.

Inclusive Energy’s remote sensing technology will also improve service accuracy, allowing Sistema.bio to offer real-time biogas digester monitoring, diagnostics, and predictive maintenance.

This means increased reliability and a more impactful return on investment for smallholder farmers through enhanced carbon credits and optimized digester performance.

IE’s CEO, Vijay Bhopal, emphasized the alignment of missions, noting, “Sistema.bio has a proven track record of commercial and technical innovation leading to real-world impact through delivery at scale.

“We are excited to join their mission to serve millions of farmers, and, together, to drive the biogas market forward towards its potential. With Sistema.bio we are well placed to ensure that Inclusive Energy’s digital technologies are used to improve lives and maximize credibility in the carbon markets.”

Joyce Cacho, Independent Board Chair at Sistema.bio, highlighted how Inclusive Energy’s technology will reinforce the company’s commitment to advancing regenerative agriculture, “Integrating IE’s dMRV technology into farmer energy transition technologies will enhance farmers’ ROI from biogas and regenerative systems by ensuring the integrity of carbon impact data.”

This acquisition positions Sistema.bio at the forefront of IoT-enabled biogas solutions, expanding its impact in the biogas sector and supporting farmers with scalable, sustainable energy solutions that prioritize accuracy, transparency, and long-term viability.
