BEEAH aims to share its regional experience and build long-term partnerships that support environmental and economic resilience.

SYRIA – Syria is stepping up efforts to strengthen its waste management and clean energy capabilities, holding high-level talks with the UAE’s BEEAH Group, one of the region’s leading sustainability companies.
Talal Al-Hilali, Head of the Syria Investment Authority, met with a BEEAH delegation in Damascus on Thursday to discuss potential cooperation in waste management, recycling, and sustainable energy solutions.
The meeting focused on identifying priority areas, assessing challenges, and outlining pathways for partnership.
Al-Hilali said the Authority is actively seeking to attract top-tier companies capable of advancing vital sectors that improve quality of life.
He noted that collaborating with BEEAH would support Syria’s ambitions to modernize its waste and resource-management systems.
Mohammad Banihammad, BEEAH’s Director of Business Development, reaffirmed the group’s interest in expanding into Syria, calling it an “honor” to contribute to the country’s recovery efforts.
He highlighted that Syria’s evolving investment landscape, supported by incentives and updated regulations, creates meaningful opportunities for sustainable development projects.
BEEAH, which operates across the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, views Syria as a strategic market to introduce innovative waste-to-energy models, integrated waste management systems, and recycling technologies.
The group aims to share its regional experience and build long-term partnerships that support environmental and economic resilience.
Earlier this year, BEEAH strengthened its regional sustainability footprint through a major partnership with Greenthesis, a global player in industrial waste management.
The collaboration will deliver the Middle East’s first polyethylene (PE) film recycling facility, located in Sharjah.
The agreement was signed during the Italy-UAE Business Forum in Rome, a key platform that coincided with a landmark meeting between UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Italian Prime Minister Her Excellency Giorgia Meloni.
The forum concluded with more than 40 agreements committing US$40 billion in joint investments across sustainability, advanced industries, energy, infrastructure, and technology.
The BEEAH–Greenthesis partnership reflects these broader strategic priorities. The new recycling facility will be housed within BEEAH’s integrated waste management complex in Sharjah’s Al Sajaa area.
PE film, widely used in protective packaging and labels, is among the most challenging plastics to recycle and is a significant contributor to global waste streams.
The upcoming facility will convert PE waste into a sustainable plywood alternative, offering a circular, low-carbon solution for infrastructure development while reducing reliance on landfills.
Khaled Al Huraimel, BEEAH’s Group CEO and Vice Chairman, said the project demonstrates how targeted innovation can address complex waste challenges, “Our partnership with Greenthesis marks a major step in addressing challenges in integrated waste management.
“By developing this PE film recycling facility, we not only tackle a hard-to-recycle waste stream but also set a precedent for sustainable infrastructure solutions. This initiative aligns with our vision for zero-waste cities and a circular economy.”
As Syria seeks international partners to advance its waste management and clean energy systems, its discussions with BEEAH signal a potential new phase of collaboration, one that could leverage regional expertise to support the nation’s environmental recovery and long-term sustainability goals.
