Terra Firma, Soluvia launch Averro packaging venture for commercial, institutional markets

Terra Firma stated that the venture combines its customer access, commercial links, logistics reach, and supply chain planning with Soluvia’s capabilities in water-soluble, biodegradable, and certification-based packaging.

AUSTRALIA – Terra Firma Equity has formed Averro Group with Soluvia Australia, combining logistics reach and supply chain planning with water-soluble and biodegradable packaging technology, targeting commercial and institutional users who buy packaging repeatedly across industrial, foodservice, healthcare, and cold-chain sectors.

The new entity is a packaging platform for established supply chains, not a consumer-facing brand or single-product operation.

Early focus areas include industrial wrapping, pallet and stretch films, distribution packaging, retail carry products, foodservice items, protein and cold-chain packaging, healthcare and hygiene uses, hospitality packaging, and export formats.

The venture aims to replace conventional plastic products where customers actively seek credible alternatives.

A B2B, Not B2C, Strategy

Terra Firma stated that the venture combines its customer access, commercial links, logistics reach, and supply chain planning with Soluvia’s capabilities in water-soluble, biodegradable, and certification-based packaging.

The company is targeting markets where packaging is bought repeatedly by commercial and institutional users, rather than addressing the whole packaging sector.

Phillippe Barros, a Terra Firma nominated director who has joined the Averro board, stated that packaging sits at the centre of every modern supply chain, and the market is now demanding better solutions.

He added that Averro has been established to capture that shift with practical sustainable packaging that can work at commercial scale, noting that the global packaging market is enormous, but Averro does not need to dominate that market to become significant.

The opportunity, he said, is in recurring institutional demand, where customers need packaging every day and are actively looking for credible alternatives to conventional plastic.

Product Pipeline Across Multiple Categories

The company’s product plans include alternatives to cold-chain packaging, foodservice plastics, hotel-related packaging, LDPE pallet wrap and stretch film, and supermarket carry bags.

Possible replacement formats include dissolvable laundry and infection-control systems, cling and barrier packaging, compostable foodservice systems, water-soluble mailers and pouches, and export and cold-chain packaging.

For a hotel chain using thousands of plastic laundry bags daily, a dissolvable alternative that disappears in the wash cycle eliminates waste entirely.

For a warehouse wrapping pallets with LDPE stretch film, a compostable alternative that biodegrades addresses the same problem through a different end-of-life pathway.

Certifications and Quality Assurance

Soluvia’s materials are supported by international testing, certification, and quality assurance processes covering biodegradation, compostability, chemical safety, environmental performance, food-contact suitability, and product safety.

These certifications matter for institutional buyers whose sustainability reporting requires third-party verification of packaging claims.

Averro will not manufacture the materials itself; it will supply finished packaging products using Soluvia’s certified materials, leveraging Terra Firma’s logistics network to deliver at scale.
