Xeikon unveils Ecolyne subscription press to accelerate digital label adoption in Asia

The new product targets the Asia-Pacific market with a capacity-based digital label service.

ASIA – Xeikon has launched Ecolyne, a subscription-based digital label press service designed to give converters instant access to high-quality digital printing capacity without the capital burden of purchasing new equipment.

The platform made its global debut at Labelexpo Asia in Shanghai, marking a strategic move aimed at fast-growing Asian markets.

Ecolyne features a 330mm web width, 25 m/min print speed and 1,200 DPI resolution, and is capable of printing on a wide range of substrates, including coated and uncoated papers, PP, PET and metallized films.

It runs on Xeikon’s food-safe dry toner, available in CMYK and CMYK+White configurations, making it suitable for applications such as food, beverage, cosmetics and industrial labels.

According to Walter Benz, President of Xeikon, the move responds to shifting dynamics in Asia’s label-printing landscape, “In many parts of Asia, the label-printing scene is changing fast. Small to mid-sized converters see increasing demand for shorter runs and faster turnaround.

“They need access to digital label-printing capacity now. That’s why we bring Ecolyne to Asia first, we see a strong need here for simple, reliable digital production without the burden of ownership.”

Under the subscription service, Xeikon manages installation, servicing, and uptime, while ensuring continuous access to the latest technology versions. This eliminates the need for converters to invest heavily upfront or worry about equipment depreciation.

The model is especially attractive for companies dealing with rising requests for versioning, promotions, market testing and localized branding, segments where digital printing delivers strong commercial advantages.

“Beyond the commercial benefits, this service lets you stay current with technology trends and keep your digital label production line equipped with the latest capabilities,” Benz added.

The launch comes as Asia’s packaging and label sectors rapidly embrace digital workflows.

Markets such as China, India and Southeast Asia have recorded significant growth in short-run and on-demand label production, driven by e-commerce, craft beverages, health supplements and SME-led product launches.

Other manufacturers are following similar service-based or pay-per-use strategies, signaling a broader shift in how converters manage capital expenditure.

With Ecolyne, Xeikon aims to lower adoption barriers and expand its footprint across emerging Asian markets.

The company expects strong uptake following Labelexpo Asia, where interest in subscription-based models gathered momentum among mid-tier converters seeking scalable, low-risk digital production options.
