Foodcare acquires UPAC to enhance food packaging capabilities

The companies will work together to ensure a smooth transition for their respective customers.

AUSTRALIA – Foodcare, a key supplier to the food processing and manufacturing industry, has agreed to acquire UPAC, a specialist in manufacturing and distributing printed bags and flexible food packaging.

The deal, announced recently, aims to expand Foodcare’s product offerings and technical expertise in the sector. Completion remains subject to standard regulatory approvals and is scheduled for February 2, 2026.

This acquisition integrates UPAC’s over 50 years of experience in printed food packaging, including guidance on compliance and technical standards.

Foodcare officials noted that the move will allow customers to access a unified source for essential manufacturing materials, streamlining procurement processes.

The combined entity plans to maintain uninterrupted service during the transition period, with both teams collaborating closely.

Garry Pagden, Foodcare’s chief executive officer, expressed enthusiasm about the integration. He stated that the partnership creates a strong single-source option by merging UPAC’s product expertise with Foodcare’s reliable inventory and customer support.

Pagden added that this development directly supports customer needs for consistent, high-quality solutions.

Gavin Wilson, UPAC’s co-founder and owner, highlighted the benefits for ongoing operations. He said joining Foodcare opens new opportunities, as the company’s logistics network will complement UPAC’s technical focus.

Existing clients, Wilson explained, will gain from enhanced reliability without disrupting their current consultation services.

The transaction builds on Foodcare’s established role in delivering packaging inputs to food producers, adding depth to its market reach.

UPAC’s established production lines for flexible packaging will integrate into Foodcare’s operations, potentially increasing efficiency for shared clients.

Foodcare has committed to evaluating sustainable enhancements post-acquisition, drawing from UPAC’s compliance knowledge.

The company anticipates the merger will support faster response times to client specifications, particularly in printed and flexible formats.

Overall, the acquisition positions both firms to address evolving needs in food packaging, with operations set to merge seamlessly by early next year.

Foodcare’s broader portfolio will now include UPAC’s specialized lines, fostering long-term partnerships with manufacturers.
