FINLAND – Huhtamaki has appointed Thomas Morin as president of its Fibre Packaging segment and member of the global executive team, effective 1 September 2026, with the former TC Transcontinental CEO bringing 25 years of packaging leadership to drive the Finnish group’s strategically important fibre business.

Morin will take over from Sara Engber, who was named president for North America in May 2026, and will operate out of Huhtamaki’s Espoo, Finland headquarters, reporting to president and CEO Ralf Wunderlich.

The Finnish packaging group, which operates 105 sites across 35 countries with approximately 17,400 employees, reported net sales of €4 billion (US$4.56 billion) in 2025, with fibre-based packaging serving as a strategically important segment.

Morin’s Global Packaging Leadership and Track Record of Profitable Growth

Morin joins from TC Transcontinental, where he served as CEO and previously led the company’s packaging division as president since 2019.

His 25-year packaging career spans North America, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, with senior roles at TC Transcontinental, Amcor, Alcan and Pechiney.

Huhtamaki president and CEO Ralf Wunderlich stated that Morin brings extensive executive leadership experience, deep packaging industry expertise and a proven track record of delivering profitable growth across international markets, adding that the new president is well positioned to build on the fibre segment’s strong foundation and lead its continued success.

Wunderlich also thanked Sara Engber for successfully leading the Fibre Packaging segment, noting that her leadership and commitment had ensured very strong performance.

Fibre Packaging’s Strategic Importance and Huhtamaki’s Sustainability Focus

Morin expressed excitement about joining Huhtamaki and leading the Fibre Packaging segment at an important stage in its development, noting that fibre-based packaging plays an increasingly important role in meeting evolving customer and consumer needs, and that Huhtamaki has built a strong position in this attractive market.

He added that he looked forward to working with the talented team to strengthen the business further, drive profitable growth, and create value for customers and shareholders.

Huhtamaki has been investing in fibre-based packaging innovation, introducing a range of compostable ice-cream cups in July 2025 designed to be compostable in both home and industrial settings, as well as recyclable.

Huhtamaki has also been expanding its fibre operations, including the recent expansion of its moulded fibre manufacturing site in the UK.
