LEBANON – Printing and packaging company Byblos has acquired the NOVACUT 106 ER Autoplaten die-cutter, its first investment in a BOBST-produced machine.
Equipped with the latest technology, the machine is claimed to deliver better versatility without compromising productivity or performance.
The NOVACUT 106 ER Autoplaten die-cutter has an integrated stripping and blanking speed of up to 8,000 sheets per minute.
The operator-friendly design ensures easy machine accessibility and quick and accurate deployment of its equipment and tools.
The machine’s automatic equipment centering, quick-locking systems and dial indicators for accurate tooling adjustments reduce the time taken for fitting the machine while the included HMI SPHERE interface reduces workload and helps enhance efficiency.
Byblos expects additional improvements in its operational efficiency and production capabilities in the future as a result of this machine.
Byblos Printing Press CEO Ziad Metni said: “While looking for ways to boost our productivity and capacity, the BOBST NOVACUT 106 ER stood out for various reasons.
“Our needs included improving efficiency and productivity, enhancing the quality and precision of our output, entering new markets and expanding our offerings, staying competitive, and streamlining operations to reduce costs.
“NOVACUT 106 ER ticks every box for us, and we are already beginning to see these benefits realized in our day-to-day operations.”
Byblos caters to a range of industry sectors, including the pharmaceutical, food, publishing, and tobacco markets.
The company has more than 80 dedicated packaging professionals and a reported annual turnover of approximately US$5 million.
In November last year, Emibra invested in BOBST’s NOVACUT 106 E die-cutter. With quick set-up, perfect registration and operating in formats of up to 1060 x 760 mm, the new NOVACUT 106 E die-cutter achieves impressive speeds of 8,000 sheets per hour, providing great flexibility and high performance.
Rodrigo Augusto, Operations Manager at Emibra said: “With the addition of this machine, we have achieved significant gains in terms of our print capability.
“The NOVACUT 106 enables great agility in job changes and better operation thanks to the very well-positioned human-machine interfaces, not to mention its speed.
“Our productivity has increased by more than 60%, critical to helping us to stay agile and effective in an increasingly demanding consumer market.”
In addition to the equipment, Emibra also adopted the preventive maintenance plans and the training offered by BOBST.
These investments have helped to improve Emibra’s workforce, as well as reduce machine downtime. These factors have combined to make Emibra one of the most productive companies in the packaging sector, which is proud to offer the market an OTIF index higher than 98%.
