Canon upgrades imagePRESS V1000 to boost productivity, flexibility, and sustainability

The imagePRESS V1000 is now compatible with the Plockmatic LCT XL, supporting media weights up to 400gsm.

EMEA – Canon, a global leader in digital imaging solutions, has announced significant enhancements to its imagePRESS V1000 toner-based production printer, designed to improve productivity, reliability, and application versatility for print service providers across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA).

Building on the success of more than 700 installations in the region, the V1000 now features a new vacuum-fed paper deck, an updated user interface, and compatibility with long-sheet handling accessories.

These upgrades respond directly to customer feedback and aim to meet the growing demand for fast turnaround times, diverse applications, and sustainable printing practices.

One of the key upgrades is the vacuum-fed paper deck, previously exclusive to the imagePRESS V1350, which uses suction-feeding and paper separation technology for more reliable handling of challenging media types.

Maintaining its compact footprint, the V1000 remains the most space-efficient production device in its class.

The printer is also now compatible with the Plockmatic LCT XL, allowing operators to process media up to 400gsm and long sheets of 700mm from two vacuum trays, or up to 1,300mm from the LSM long-sheet tray.

This flexibility supports high-value applications such as landscape booklets, tri-fold brochures, and gate-folded products.

Enhancements to user experience include a new 21-inch PRISMAsync operating panel, offering greater visibility and an intuitive interface for managing workflows and printer functions.

The system supports Canon’s cloud-based e-maintenance service, enabling proactive monitoring and reducing the need for on-site visits, particularly beneficial for customers in remote locations.

The imagePRESS V1000 continues to lead on sustainability, achieving the highest INGEDE certification for deinkability, ensuring its printed output can be efficiently recycled.

It also holds FOGRA 51 certification for exceptional colour quality without compromising productivity, a challenging feat for toner presses.

The printer’s reliability is already proven in high-demand environments such as UWV, the Netherlands’ public organization for social security services, which produces 2.5 million A4 pages monthly using five V1000 presses.

This enables them to process 144,000 impressions daily within a 5–6 hour production window.

Hans Schmidbauer, Director of Marketing & Innovation at Canon EMEA, said the upgrades reflect Canon’s “customer-driven innovation” approach.

“While others may be shifting focus, Canon continues to invest in toner technology to meet the ongoing demand for high-quality, reliable, on-demand printing,” he noted.

The enhanced imagePRESS V1000 is available immediately through Canon’s direct sales teams and accredited partners, with options for PRISMAsync or Fiery controllers, both updated for improved usability.
