NBCo joins Bottle Collective to advance fibre bottles in beauty, personal care

NBCo joins existing participants Diageo, Opella, Haleon and Logoplaste in the collaboration.

USA – NBCo, a sustainable packaging firm, has joined the Bottle Collective, a collaboration dedicated to developing and scaling dry-moulded fibre bottles for the beauty and personal care industry.

The company now works alongside existing members Diageo, Opella, Haleon, and Logoplaste in this initiative led by PulPac and PA Consulting.

NBCo specializes in fibre-based materials and operates a decentralized manufacturing network that supports local production to reduce transport emissions.

Alvin Lim, CEO and founder of NBCo, explained that the company plans to expand both dry and wet-moulded bottles in its offerings.

By combining PulPac’s innovation with our manufacturing expertise, we can broaden what’s possible for fibre bottles and bring circular packaging to more brands around the world,” he said.

The Bottle Collective brings together brand owners, manufacturers, and technology providers to accelerate the creation of viable fibre bottle systems.

PulPac developed dry-moulded fibre as a high-speed, resource-efficient process for packaging production through its partner network.

PA Consulting contributes innovation expertise from its team of over 4,000 specialists.

The beauty sector generates over 120 billion packaging units annually, with much of it ending in landfills. The industry accounts for one-third of global landfill waste, and 70%  of its plastic waste goes unrecycled.

The collective targets fibre alternatives that match performance needs while cutting environmental impact.

In a related development, Avantium announced plans earlier this year to enhance dry-moulded fibre bottles by integrating its plant-based PEF polymer as a barrier coating.

This move aims to improve functionality for liquid products within the same PulPac-driven ecosystem that powers the Bottle Collective.

NBCo’s entry adds manufacturing scale to the group, building on prior additions like Logoplaste, which joined to support beverage applications.

The collaboration continues to focus on commercial rollout of fibre bottles across categories.
