Jameson unveils redesigned green bottle celebrating Midleton Distillery

The redesigned bottle, which began rolling out globally at the end of July, applies across multiple formats

IRELAND – Jameson Irish Whiskey has introduced a refreshed design for its iconic green bottle, marking a significant update to its packaging since 1968.

The new look emphasizes the brand’s heritage and craftsmanship, connecting it more closely to its production home in Midleton, County Cork.

The redesigned bottle features the phrase “Crafted for Smoothness at the Midleton Distillery” on the front label, highlighting the distillery’s role in producing Jameson’s triple-distilled whiskey.

According to Carol Quinn, Archivist at Irish Distillers, the redesign strengthens the link between the product and its origins.

He noted that the 1975 move to Midleton marked a pivotal moment for Irish whiskey when the distillery was among Europe’s most advanced.

This year, Midleton Distillery earned recognition as the World’s Most Awarded International Distillery, an accolade that celebrates its high-quality whiskey production.

The updated bottle design incorporates a brighter color palette for enhanced shelf appeal, raised shoulders to emphasize the Jameson name, and a modernized crest for a cohesive brand identity.

Tactile enhancements, including increased foil, textured varnishes, and embossing, give the bottle a premium feel.

In a statement, Anna Kelly, global head of marketing at Irish Distillers, said the redesign “celebrates Midleton as the center of excellence for Irish whiskey craft and innovation,” while preserving the brand’s approachable and iconic elements.

The new bottles, available in 50ml, 700ml, 750ml, and 1L formats, began rolling out globally in July 2025, with a retail price starting at approximately US$25 for the 700ml bottle, depending on the market.

A recent report indicates Jameson plans to extend this packaging evolution to other products, including Jameson Crested and Distiller’s Batch, later in 2025.

The brand also introduced a limited-edition Midleton Distillery Collection bottle, exclusive to the distillery’s shop, priced at around US$150, featuring unique cask finishes to showcase its innovative spirit.

This redesign aligns with growing consumer demand for sustainable and premium packaging in the spirits industry.

Jameson’s use of pressure-sensitive label technology at its Fox & Geese bottling facility in Dublin enhances production efficiency while maintaining a high-quality finish.

The updated packaging retains the signature green glass, a nod to the brand’s heritage inspired by the stained-glass panels of the original Bow Street Distillery.

Jameson’s latest packaging update celebrates its legacy while embracing modern design trends, ensuring it remains a standout in the global whiskey market.
