Veritiv launches Curbside-recyclable fiber-based pallet shipper for biopharma cold chain

USA – Veritiv, a US-based provider of specialty packaging solutions, has introduced TempSafe PalletShield, a new bulk pallet shipper added to its TempSafe cold chain packaging line.

The shipper consists entirely of curbside-recyclable fiber-based components. It provides over five days of validated thermal protection and handles payloads between 558 and 596 liters. 

The system also accommodates more than 300 pounds of dry ice.

Designed for life sciences, healthcare, and high-value cold chain logistics, TempSafe PalletShield suits products like vaccines, biologics, clinical trial materials, and therapies that require strict temperature control.

A patent-pending panel-locking mechanism reduces edge heat loss and maintains structural integrity during prolonged or multi-stop transports. The shipper integrates with standard pallet-handling processes.

Veritiv offers this product as part of a wider range of curbside-recyclable solutions for parcel and bulk shipments. 

These serve as alternatives to traditional expanded polystyrene and polyurethane systems, easing end-of-life disposal and cutting waste.

As a neutral supplier, Veritiv supplies various cold chain options, including conventional foams, vacuum insulated panels, and phase change materials. 

The company developed the TempSafe line, including PalletShield, due to increased customer needs for environmentally friendly packaging that matches existing performance standards.

Chris Bradley, Veritiv’s chief marketing and sustainability officer, said cold chain teams seek solutions without trade-offs between thermal reliability and environmental impact. 

He added that TempSafe PalletShield meets those demands and extends the line with a recyclable pallet shipper suited for tough operational conditions.

Frank Butch, director of cold chain solutions at Veritiv, explained that the team focused on creating a recyclable shipper that matches or exceeds traditional materials while remaining user-friendly for warehouse staff.

TempSafe PalletShield is now available across Veritiv’s distribution network in the United States
