GERMANY – Syntegon has introduced its AIM9 inspection platform, combining high-performance visual inspection and integrated leak detection in a single system capable of processing up to 600 vials per minute.
The solution is designed to help pharmaceutical manufacturers and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) meet increasingly stringent regulatory and quality requirements.
The AIM9 platform is engineered to deliver enhanced flexibility, enabling the inspection of multiple container formats and product types on a standardized system.
It accommodates vial sizes ranging from 2 ml to 250 ml, supporting fast changeovers and rapid adaptation to new products, a critical requirement in today’s diversified biologics and specialty pharma pipelines.
A key feature of the platform is its fully integrated Container Closure Integrity Testing (CCIT).
Syntegon offers headspace gas analysis, high-voltage leak detection, or a combination of both within the same machine, eliminating the need for separate inspection equipment and reducing footprint and integration complexity on the production floor.
In addition to advanced visual inspection technologies for particle detection and cosmetic defect identification, AIM9 incorporates Syntegon’s patented SD technology alongside area-scan and line-scan cameras.
The system can be equipped with deep learning capabilities to enhance defect recognition accuracy.
Alternatively, users can deploy a bubble masking tool that distinguishes harmless air bubbles from critical defects, helping to reduce false rejects while maintaining compliance.
The platform’s transport system is designed to ensure stable and secure handling of containers throughout the inspection cycle, minimizing mechanical stress and supporting consistent performance at high throughput.
AIM9 is available in multiple variants built on a standardized architecture, allowing pharmaceutical producers to scale or configure the system according to operational needs.
The launch comes amid growing industry focus on automation and artificial intelligence in quality control.
Last year, Antares Vision Group partnered with Oròbix to develop AI-GO, an AI-driven visual inspection platform capable of detecting complex anomalies such as chromatic impurities, glass fragments and foreign bodies with greater speed and adaptability.
Similarly, Canapa Solutions by Paxiom recently launched its Vision360 automated inspection system for pre-roll products, offering real-time flaw detection to reduce manual labour and boost throughput.
