New Recycl-IN polymer targets high-end packaging applications with lower carbon footprint.

FRANCE – INEOS Olefins & Polymers Europe has introduced a new recycled polypropylene grade designed for premium cosmetics packaging, expanding its portfolio of circular polymer solutions for the personal care industry.
The new material, Recycl-IN rPP1025C, contains 70% recycled content and has been engineered to meet the performance, aesthetic and processing demands of contact-sensitive cosmetics components.
The launch strengthens INEOS’s push to help brands integrate higher levels of recycled plastics into packaging without compromising quality or design.
Developed as part of the company’s Recycl-IN hybrid polymer portfolio, rPP1025C combines mechanically recycled polypropylene with advanced booster polymers that enhance strength, processability and surface finish.
According to the company, this hybrid formulation allows converters to achieve virgin-like performance while significantly reducing environmental impact.
The natural-colour polypropylene homopolymer grade is optimised for thin-walled injection moulding and fibre extrusion, making it suitable for a range of high-end cosmetics packaging formats.
Typical applications include screw caps, jars and lids, mascara reservoirs, deodorant roller balls, spray-over caps and dispenser components.
INEOS says the material delivers key attributes required by premium packaging manufacturers, including high stiffness for shape retention, strong heat resistance and excellent colourability.
These properties help maintain product stability and shelf life while supporting the polished appearance expected from luxury cosmetics packaging.
Importantly, the new grade has been designed as a drop-in solution for existing manufacturing processes.
The company states that rPP1025C offers mechanical, optical and processing properties comparable to virgin polypropylene while achieving a 35% lower carbon footprint, helping brands reduce emissions across their packaging value chains.
Regulatory compliance was also a central focus during development. The recycled content used in the material is covered by a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) No Objection Letter, while its post-consumer recycled content has been verified by RecyClass under ISO 14021 Environmental Labelling Standard guidelines.
The launch marks the second hybrid polymer grade introduced by INEOS for the cosmetics packaging sector, following the earlier release of Recycl-IN rPP2030C.
Across the broader packaging industry, demand for recycled-content plastics continues to grow as global beauty brands adopt sustainability targets and regulators tighten requirements around plastic waste and circularity.
Manufacturers of cosmetic packaging are under increasing pressure to balance premium aesthetics with environmental responsibility, particularly in markets where consumers expect high-end design and sustainable materials.
INEOS said its broader Recycl-IN portfolio includes ready-made polyolefin compounds designed for rigid and flexible applications across industries such as automotive, construction, packaging, textiles and storage systems.
With rPP1025C, the company aims to give cosmetics brands a practical pathway to increase recycled content in packaging while preserving the design flexibility and premium look essential to the beauty sector.
