Tjoapack’s customers will gain access to Alcami’s other operations, including pharmaceutical testing laboratories, sterile and oral solid dose drug product manufacturing, and GMP pharmaceutical storage.

USA – Alcami Corporation has agreed to acquire Tjoapack, a contract packaging business with operations in the US and the Netherlands, adding primary and secondary packaging services for oral solid dose products, sterile injectables, and labelling to Alcami’s portfolio.
Tjoapack has been providing pharmaceutical packaging services for more than 35 years, serving over 40 commercial markets worldwide with more than 400 employees.
Its portfolio includes packaging and labelling for oral solid dose products, including blister packs and bottles, as well as sterile injectables such as vials, pre-filled syringes, and auto-injectors.
The company runs facilities in Clinton, Tennessee, and Etten-Leur in the Netherlands.
Strategic Rationale for the Deal
Under the transaction, Alcami will add packaging and labelling capacity in the US and Qualified Person release and related services in Europe.
Tjoapack’s customers will gain access to Alcami’s other operations, including pharmaceutical testing laboratories, sterile and oral solid dose drug product manufacturing, and GMP pharmaceutical storage.
The deal is expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year.
Patrick Walsh, Alcami CEO and chairman, commented that this acquisition marks the company’s first European expansion, which is an essential element of its investment strategy to expand its presence in the global market.
He noted that this increased scale aligns with Alcami’s growth and expansion in pharmaceutical testing lab services, drug product manufacturing, and pharma storage service offerings.
A Transatlantic Platform
Dexter Tjoa, CEO of Tjoapack, explained that this transaction represents an important next chapter for the company.
Partnering with Alcami allows Tjoapack to accelerate its growth ambitions while staying true to what has made the company successful, quality, reliability, and a strong focus on customers.
He added that together, the companies create a more integrated transatlantic platform that enables them to support partners more effectively as they scale and expand globally.
Packaging as a Critical Service for Pharma
For pharmaceutical companies, packaging is not merely a final step, it is a regulated process with serialisation requirements, child-resistant features, and stability testing.
Contract packaging organisations like Tjoapack provide the validated equipment, trained personnel, and quality systems that drug developers cannot easily replicate in-house.
By acquiring Tjoapack, Alcami gains the ability to offer its development and manufacturing clients an integrated path from drug substance to packaged commercial product.
When Packaging Completes the Platform
A CDMO that cannot package the drug it manufactures is not a full-service provider.
Alcami’s acquisition of Tjoapack closes that gap.
For pharmaceutical clients, the value is integration: one partner for testing, manufacturing, storage, and now packaging. That is not just convenience, it is speed to market.
