CANADA – Altro Industries, a Canadian packaging solutions provider, has expanded into the folding carton segment by installing an HP Indigo 35K Digital Press.
This strategic investment strengthens the company’s position in the competitive packaging landscape by diversifying its product portfolio beyond labels, packaging tapes, and shrink sleeves.
Previously, Altro faced significant challenges sourcing folding cartons from vendors in Eastern Canada and the United States.
High freight costs and exchange rate fluctuations often hindered pricing consistency and operational agility.
With the HP Indigo 35K now in-house, the company can produce folding cartons locally—eliminating the need for distant suppliers.
This not only cuts logistics costs and lead times but also enables Altro to offer competitively priced, high-quality packaging with faster turnaround times.
The press’s digital capabilities allow for plate-free printing, increasing production efficiency and responsiveness.
By reducing minimum order quantities and accelerating delivery, Altro can better serve small and medium-sized businesses looking for flexible, custom packaging solutions.
“This investment has enabled us to deliver high-quality, customizable packaging with faster turnaround times and reduced minimums,” said Sam Naemi, Chief Operating Officer at Altro Industries.
“HP’s technology has streamlined our production and improved our efficiency—allowing us to better support our clients and remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market.”
The new press also supports Altro’s sustainability goals. By minimizing waste and improving material efficiency, the Indigo 35K helps reduce the company’s carbon footprint while supporting demand for more sustainable packaging solutions.
Scott Archer, AMS HP Industrial Commercial Director of Sales, commented, “At HP, we’re committed to helping businesses like Altro Industries grow through cutting-edge solutions like the Indigo 35K.
“Our technology is designed to evolve with customer needs, and we’re proud to support Canadian businesses with sustainable, high-performance printing.”
Looking ahead, Altro Industries plans to further its collaboration with HP by adopting advanced tools such as PrintOS and xRServices.
These technologies will help automate workflows, boost operational efficiency, and position the company for continued growth in the packaging sector.
