Bull Moose acquires Hanna Steel, expanding recycled-content tube footprint to 9 plants

By extending recycled-content capability across Hanna’s operations, the acquisition supports growing demand for lower-carbon steel tubes in packaging machinery and industry.

USA – Bull Moose Tube Co. has acquired fellow steel tube producer Hanna Steel Corp. for an undisclosed sum, expanding its manufacturing footprint to nine facilities and strengthening its position in recycled-content steel tubing used across packaging machinery and construction applications.

The acquisition, announced on 16 June 2026 and completed in the early third quarter, adds Hanna’s structural and mechanical tubing operations in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Pekin, Illinois, along with a coil-coating facility in Fairfield, Alabama, and the company’s in-house transportation fleet, Hanna Truck Line.

The Hoover, Alabama-headquartered Hanna Steel will operate as a division of Bull Moose Tube following the transaction.

EAF Steel and Recycled Content Drive Environmental Credentials

Bull Moose Tube provides customers with two audited environmental product declarations, one based on tubes made solely with steel coils produced in electric arc furnaces (EAFs).

The company states that EAF coil has less environmental impact than basic oxygen furnace coil and is the only material utilized at its Sinton, Texas operation.

A late 2023 Bull Moose document prepared for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design programme shows its Chicago Heights facility using 83 percent recycled content, the Sinton facility at 72 percent, and other locations in the 30 to 57 percent recycled content range.

The acquisition extends this recycled-content capability across Hanna’s operations, supporting demand for lower-carbon steel tubes across packaging machinery and industrial applications.

Complementary Assets and Continuity for Customers and Employees

Bull Moose CEO John Krupinski described the acquisition as a strong strategic fit that supports long-term growth plans and adds new capabilities from Hanna’s operations.

He noted that Hanna adds complementary assets, experienced teams, a respected reputation and culture, along with a product portfolio that supports the company’s long-term growth strategy.

Jill Cunningham, vice board chair at Hanna Steel, stated that the acquisition marks an exciting new chapter for customers, employees and suppliers, adding that the company is confident Bull Moose Tube is the right long-term home for the business and its people.

The transaction was advised by Brown Gibbons Lang & Co., which served as exclusive financial advisor to Bull Moose.

With the addition of Hanna’s three facilities to Bull Moose’s existing seven plants, including its Canada location, the combined group strengthens its position as one of North America’s largest welded steel tubing producers.
