CZECH REPUBLIC – Coveris has announced the successful signing and completion of S&K LABEL spol. s r.o. (S&K LABEL) in the Czech Republic.
This latest move follows Coveris’ recent strategic acquisitions of two flexible packaging facilities in Hungary and Poland, marking the packaging leader’s third foray into Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
Notably, S&K LABEL represents Coveris’ inaugural venture into the labels sector outside of the UK.
Renowned as one of the most technologically advanced manufacturers in the CEE region, S&K LABEL presents an optimal strategic synergy with Coveris’ labels business, facilitating the establishment of a comprehensive pan-European business platform.
Christian Kolarik, Group CEO of Coveris, expressed enthusiasm regarding the acquisition, stating, “We are thrilled by this opportunity to bolster our labels business, expand our operational footprint, and broaden our geographical presence.
“The addition of S&K LABEL is a significant stride towards securing locally manufactured, top-tier labels for our clientele, thereby satisfying the escalating demand for sustainable labeling solutions. Furthermore, this acquisition positions us to fortify our foothold in mainland Europe.”
In a bid to demonstrate its commitment to pioneering sustainable packaging solutions, Coveris recently unveiled plans to showcase its latest innovations at the forthcoming Anuga FoodTec exhibition in Germany, scheduled from March 19 to 22, 2024.
At the event, Coveris will unveil its revolutionary BarrierFresh MAP skillets, meticulously engineered to prolong the shelf life of sandwiches.
Aligned with Coveris’ steadfast dedication to mitigating food wastage, these skillets regulate the packaging atmosphere, ensuring prolonged product freshness, while also offering unparalleled product visibility, branding opportunities, and robust protection.
In addition to the BarrierFresh MAP skillets, Coveris will introduce its expanded range of recyclable MonoFlex films and laminates, meticulously crafted from polyethylene and polypropylene.
Serving as direct replacements for non-recyclable plastics, these materials maintain shelf life and performance standards across a spectrum of food sectors including meat, fresh produce, poultry, and dairy.
Furthermore, Coveris will spotlight its 100% paper-based block bottom bags, custom-tailored for brands operating in the bakery, dried foods, confectionery, and snack industries.
These bags offer effective barrier protection against external elements while serving as a sustainable packaging alternative.
Katja Killian, Coveris BU Flexibles Business Development Director, underscored the company’s unwavering commitment to sustainability, affirming, “At Coveris, our sustainability strategy is underpinned by the vision of No Waste.
“Our packaging solutions seamlessly align with this ethos, offering sustainable yet highly efficient and protective alternatives.”
