ePac expands European operations with HP Indigo 200K digital press installation

The investment marks the latest phase in its ongoing collaboration with HP

UK – ePac Flexible Packaging has unveiled its latest initiative to expand operations in Europe by installing an HP Indigo 200K digital press at its Sheffield, UK facility.

This move, announced at Drupa 2024, marks the first deployment of the advanced press in ePac’s Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) operations, reinforcing a multiyear strategic agreement with HP to upgrade its global fleet.

The HP Indigo 200K press, known for its cutting-edge digital printing capabilities, offers a 30% increase in printing speed and a 45% boost in productivity compared to its predecessor.

According to industry experts, this technology enables ePac to deliver high-quality, customizable packaging with shorter lead times, catering to the dynamic demands of brands across diverse markets.

The press also supports sustainability goals, aligning with the European Union’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) by promoting recyclable packaging structures.

Johnny Hobeika, Managing Director of ePac Holdings Europe, emphasized the transformative impact of this collaboration.

“HP Indigo remains integral to our mission. Their technology has enabled us to grow from a single-site operation to a pan-European network,” he said.

“This latest investment is not just a tech upgrade; it’s a reaffirmation of our shared vision for high-quality flexible packaging that empowers brands and fosters sustainable practices.”

The Sheffield installation builds on ePac’s success in the United States, where six HP Indigo 200K presses are already operational.

A recent report highlights ePac’s rapid growth since its founding in 2016, with the company now producing over one million pouches monthly and achieving consistent annual growth rates above 50%.

The expansion in Europe addresses the region’s complex packaging landscape, characterized by linguistic diversity and varied regulations, through ePac’s scalable model that ensures consistent color quality across its network.

Noam Zilbershtain, Vice President and General Manager of HP Indigo, underscored the milestone’s significance.

“The strategic agreement announced at Drupa is becoming reality,” he stated. “This installation underscores our shared goal to redefine the flexible packaging industry, bringing advanced technology and unparalleled service to European customers.”

In a statement, ePac confirmed that the Sheffield press enhances its ability to serve small and medium-sized businesses with fast-turnaround, high-SKU packaging solutions.

For instance, WestLab, a UK-based wellness brand, has leveraged the new press for agile production and consistent branding.

A recent update from ePac’s Canadian operations, announced in April 2025, revealed the addition of another HP Indigo 200K press in Toronto, bringing the total to five in North America.
