The factory currently employs 450 people and also produces paper straws as a complementary product

INDONESIA – Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program, Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto, recently inaugurated PT Lami Packaging Indonesia’s (Lamipak) state-of-the-art aseptic packaging facility in Serang, Banten.
This marks the country’s first integrated plant dedicated to producing high-quality, eco-friendly aseptic packaging, aimed at streamlining the supply of fresh milk and other beverages for the MBG initiative.
According to a statement from the minister, the facility, operated by LamiPak Indonesia, has ramped up its production capacity from 12 billion to 21 billion packages annually as of July 2025.
“This plant occupies just 16 hectares, utilizing only 12% of its potential capacity, offering room for up to tenfold expansion,” Hartarto said, highlighting its scalability to meet growing demand.
Anton Hui, Managing Director of LamiPak Indonesia, emphasized the plant’s role in supporting the MBG program.
“Our advanced facility, built on 16.2 hectares with over 55,000 square meters of production space, is equipped with cutting-edge Industry 4.0 machinery,” Hui stated.
‘’This allows us to produce 21 billion aseptic packages yearly, reducing supply chain lengths and lowering food and beverage costs.”
He added that the factory’s eco-friendly innovations, such as aluminum-free Lamipure technology and recyclable paper straws, align with sustainable practices, cutting carbon emissions by up to 28%.
The MBG program, a flagship initiative under President Prabowo Subianto, aims to provide nutritious meals and beverages to children, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers across 38 provinces.
The new plant is expected to play a pivotal role in ensuring the hygienic packaging of dairy products, a key component of the program.
Recent updates indicate that LamiPak Indonesia has also engaged in community initiatives, including internship programs with local universities and health campaigns promoting milk consumption among schoolchildren.
