US – US-based printed packaging company Fortis Solutions Group (Fortis) has completed the acquisition of Placentia, California-based Cinton doing business as West Coast Labels for an undisclosed sum.

West Coast Labels is a full-service digital and flexographic printer of pressure-sensitive labels serving the food and beverage, health and beauty, nutraceutical, wine and spirits, produce, and industrial end markets.

Fortis president and CEO John O. Wynne, Jr. said: “Over the past 50 years, Sam Scaffide and the West Coast Labels team have established themselves as one of the leading label companies in Southern California.

“Building on our recent acquisition of Digital Dogma, we are excited to grow our presence in the Los Angeles market and further expand the breadth and depth of capabilities we provide our customers.”

Fortis, a portfolio company of funds managed by Harvest Partners, employs over 1,300 people across 22 manufacturing facilities.

Headquartered in Virginia Beach, Virginia, the firm aims to pursue acquisitions that help to expand the range of its product offerings and locations that can better serve its clientele.

Using its flexographic, letterpress, offset and digital printing capabilities, the firm offers pressure sensitive and shrink sleeve labels, multi-ply coupon and flexible packaging printing, extended booklet printing, pouches, folding cartons, label applicators and variable data printing.

West Coast Labels owner Sam Scaffide said: “It was an easy decision to entrust our company’s legacy to Fortis, given their track record of taking care of employees, customers, and company reputation.”

This is the fourth acquisition Fortis is making this year. In September, the company snapped up California-based Digital Dogma for an undisclosed sum.

Digital Dogma is a digital producer of pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, and flexible packaging for the food and beverage, wine and spirits, nutraceutical, health and beauty, and industrial end industries.

In August, Fortis also acquired Identi-Graphics, a manufacturer and printer of pressure-sensitive labels and flexible packaging products serving the snack, bakery, confectionary, cosmetic and chemical end markets in the US and Canada.

The company, based in Illinois, specializes in printing bar wrappers for the nutritional supplement industry in heat and cold seal applications.

Earlier this year, Fortis acquired Canadian flexographic and digital solution provider Profecta Labels.

Based in St-Hubert, Quebec, Profecta Labels manufactures flexographic and digital solutions for labels and flexible packaging printing.

The company serves industrial, pharmaceutical, cosmetics and food and beverage end-markets in North America.
