HP drives sustainability in printing & packaging with efficiency, circularity, & collaboration.

CHINA – HP Inc. has teamed up with its long-standing distributor, Syntax, to launch a Digital Innovation Center in Guangzhou, China, to advance eco-friendly printing for labels and packaging.
The facility, located at Weikang Technology Innovation Park, serves as a testing ground for cutting-edge digital presses, with a strong emphasis on reducing waste through efficient production methods.
At the heart of the Syntax Graphic Experience Center are two flagship machines: the HP Indigo 200K, tailored for high-volume flexible packaging that minimizes material use, and the HP Indigo 6K, optimized for short-run label jobs.
Plans call for integrating the upcoming HP Indigo V12 and 18K models soon, expanding capabilities for faster, greener output.
According to industry observers, this setup allows converters to experiment with real-world applications, from prototype runs to full-scale trials, all while cutting down on setup times and excess stock.
The center goes beyond hardware by delivering hands-on support. It runs a range of training sessions, from entry-level digital printing basics to expert courses on HP Indigo color optimization and workflow management.
Participants can learn production techniques that streamline operations and lower energy consumption.
In a statement, Syntax officials noted that these programs aim to build skills across the supply chain, helping smaller providers compete in a market shifting toward recyclable materials.
Consulting services form another pillar, where HP and Syntax experts analyze client setups to suggest tweaks for better efficiency.
This includes tailored plans for integrating automation, which can shave hours off finishing processes.
Haim Levit, senior vice president and head of HP’s Industrial Print Organization, highlighted the facility’s role during the opening.
“This center shows how our digital tech can reshape production from start to finish, opening doors for print businesses of every scale,” he said.
Levit added that automation paired with top-tier quality creates fresh paths for growth in the sector.
The launch strengthens a partnership that dates back years, with both companies committed to expanding digital adoption in Asia.
Arnon Goldman, HP’s general manager for the Asia Pacific region, described the event as a high point.
He pointed to collaborative sessions with local converters as key, saying they foster joint development of new packaging formats.
Indirectly, Goldman emphasized that such efforts help set performance standards and spark business expansion in this key market.
In a related development, ePac Flexible Packaging installed its first HP Indigo 200K in the United States, boosting capacity for custom, low-waste runs and supporting brands’ push for circular economy solutions.
In Europe, Cwl Group added a similar press in late October, doubling its output for eco-conscious orders.
