Husky launches HyCAPTM 4.0 tooling to boost efficiency in beverage closure production

Next-generation tooling solution supports lightweight, high-speed, and regulation-compliant beverage closure manufacturing.

CANADA – Husky Technologies has introduced its HyCAPTM 4.0 tooling platform, a next-generation injection molding solution designed to help beverage closure manufacturers improve efficiency, durability, and sustainability in high-volume production environments.

The launch comes as beverage packaging producers face increasing pressure to manufacture lighter, more sustainable closures while complying with evolving regulations such as tethered cap requirements in the European Union.

Manufacturers are also seeking faster production cycles, lower operating costs, and improved product consistency.

According to Husky, HyCAPTM 4.0 tooling has been engineered to address these challenges by enabling ultra-lightweight beverage closure production with greater precision and repeatability.

The tooling system supports accurate molding of increasingly complex closure designs while maintaining high-quality output across fast production cycles.

The company noted that lightweighting trends and the adoption of tethered closures are transforming the beverage packaging sector, requiring tighter process control and more advanced tooling performance.

A key feature of HyCAPTM 4.0 is its enhanced robustness and mold durability. Husky said the tooling incorporates advanced material selection and precision-guided stack design to improve long-term reliability in demanding production environments.

The system also introduces polymer bushings that reduce steel-to-steel contact between core components, helping minimize wear, extend mold life, and lower the risk of mechanical failure during millions of production cycles.

These improvements are expected to reduce maintenance requirements while increasing overall system reliability.

In addition, HyCAPTM 4.0 has been designed to improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) through faster cycle times, higher uptime, and simplified servicing.

With fewer wear-prone components and extended maintenance intervals, manufacturers can reduce downtime and improve production consistency.

Husky further highlighted the tooling’s flexibility in supporting both tethered and non-tethered closure production.

The company said manufacturers can switch between designs with minimal tooling changes, enabling quicker adaptation to changing regulatory and market requirements without major capital investments.

Beyond operational efficiency, Husky said the new tooling solution helps reduce total cost of ownership by lowering maintenance expenses, minimizing spare parts consumption, and reducing production disruptions.

As beverage brands continue to prioritize sustainability and lightweight packaging, Husky believes advanced tooling technologies such as HyCAPTM 4.0 will play an increasingly important role in delivering efficient, reliable, and future-ready beverage closure manufacturing.
