RUSSIA – The Directors of Ilim Group has appointed Aleksei Lomko as the Chief Executive Officer of JSC Ilim Group, effective from October 30, 2023.
Lomko replaces Ilim’s former CEO, Kseniia Sosnina, who stepped down in mid-July 2023 due to the expiration of her employment contract.
Lomko is one of the key opinion leaders in corporate law, management, legal support, and re-engineering of large companies.
He is a graduate of the Ural Legal Academy and holds MBA degrees from Northwestern University (U.S.) and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
Lomko joined Ilim Group in 2005 as the Deputy Director of Legal and played a crucial role in the corporate formation of the company in 2007. He took charge of the Group’s legal department, which provided support for the establishment of the Russian-American joint venture and its investment activities.
When the management architecture was changed in 2013, Lomko was appointed as Vice President of Legal. Later, in 2018, he became the Senior Vice President of Legal. He interacted directly with the Board of Directors and served as the acting CEO on multiple occasions.
Kseniia Sosnina was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the company in June 2016, following her service on the company’s Board of Directors.
She led large-scale upgrades with a total investment of US$3.8 billion. The overall capacity of Ilim Group’s mills grew by 17%, and product exports to China reached a record high of 2.2 million tonnes per year.
UPM names Tomi Sederholm as Senior Vice President
UPM has appointed Tomi Sederholm as Senior Vice President of UPM Business Control and Finance Operations, effective from 1 December 2023. He reports to Tapio Korpeinen, Chief Financial Officer at UPM, and is based in Helsinki, Finland.
Sederholm has been working for UPM since 2008 and currently holds the position of Vice President, Business Control, at UPM Fibres.
Earlier, he led Strategy and Business Control at UPM Energy. He is also the Chairman of the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors at Pohjolan Voima Oyj.
Tomi holds a master’s degree in economics, and he has also participated in executive leadership programs at Harvard Business School and Singularity University.
Last month, the company appointed Massimo Reynaudo as its new CEO, taking over from Jussi Pesonen on January 1, 2024.
Jussi Pesonen will continue as the President and CEO until December 31, 2023. After that, he will serve as an advisor to the company and its management until his retirement from UPM on April 30, 2024.
Mr. Reynaudo has been with UPM since 2017. He is currently the Executive Vice President of UPM Communication Papers.
