Intergrafipak boosts production capabilities with Mark Andy evolution Series E5 installation

The move is aimed at accelerating the company’s label business.

NETHERLANDS – Intergrafipak (IGP), a family-owned specialist in pharmaceutical, healthcare, and cosmetics packaging, has expanded its production capacity with the installation of a Mark Andy Evolution Series E5 flexographic press at its facility in Nieuw-Vennep.

The move is aimed at accelerating the company’s label business, which is currently the fastest-growing segment of its operations.

Established in 1938 as a general printing house, IGP pivoted to pharmaceutical packaging in 1954 and has since evolved into a one-stop shop offering folding cartons, printed and folded inserts, and label production.

Today, the company is a trusted supplier to some of Europe’s leading brands, delivering highly regulated and quality-critical packaging components.

“Our business is founded on long-term partnerships and high operational performance,” said Klaas Kruiswijk, Managing Director of Intergrafipak.

“We believe our organizational DNA gives us the resilience to manage risk while maintaining exceptional quality and OTIF (on-time, in-full) delivery—essential attributes in the pharmaceutical sector.”

The company’s dedication to quality is reflected in its comprehensive certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, cGMP, and ECMA Pharma Best Practice.

It also meets sustainability benchmarks with Ecovadis Silver, FSC SCS-COC, and EEP accreditations.

IGP’s production is divided into three main divisions—folding cartons, insert leaflets, and labels. While the first two are produced using sheet-fed offset presses and finished on offline equipment, the label division—currently contributing 10% of business—has been identified as a key area for growth.

To meet this rising demand, IGP sought a flexible and high-performance printing solution.

After an extensive evaluation of competing press manufacturers, Intergrafipak chose the Mark Andy Evolution Series E5 based on its print quality, precision, and operator-friendly design.

Initial contact was made through Packtion, Mark Andy’s agent in the Netherlands.

“Intergrafipak has a well-earned reputation for top-quality output,” said Maarten van Bergeijk of Packtion. “We knew the Mark Andy press had to deliver outstanding performance in trials.”

The chosen configuration includes an 8-color press with a 430 mm web width, Vetaphone double-sided corona treatment, Teknek web cleaning, and chilled impression rolls for filmic substrates.

The hybrid UV curing system combines GEW Aero LED and Arc technologies, while advanced web handling features such as turn bars, a web translator (Mark Andy’s Gizmo), and QCDC die-cutting support complex, multi-layer label production.

Additional features include SmartLink Production Monitoring (now ProWORKZ Analytics), dual rewinds, a double peel-off rail, and BST TubeScan for 100% inspection—making the setup one of the most comprehensive in its class.

“The Evolution Series E5’s fast job changeovers, ease of setup, and scalability make it a smart investment for our needs,” said Kruiswijk.

“We involved our operators in the selection process, and their preference for Mark Andy confirmed our decision.”

Kruiswijk added that being a mid-sized company allows IGP to make quick, pragmatic decisions without the bureaucracy that often slows larger corporations.

“We value speed, honesty, and efficiency—qualities that align well with our approach to growth.”

Van Bergeijk echoed that sentiment, “We’re proud to support IGP’s expansion. The Evolution Series E5 offers flexibility and future-proof technology that will help the company stay competitive and responsive to market demands.”
