UK – The Meliora Group has invested in a new Heidelberg Diana Easy folder-gluer for its Delga Press packaging business, allowing it to produce smaller cartons.

The new machine, which will run alongside Delga’s post-press lineup of Alba and Vega folder-gluers, will serve Delga’s fleet of HP Indigo 12000HD, Komori GL540C and Heidelberg CD102 presses.

“We have a long-standing relationship with Heidelberg when purchasing equipment,” says Sam Grist, Commercial Director, Delga Press.

“We chose the Diana in particular as it has the ability to produce smaller cartons than our existing equipment. The level of support and training we know we can expect from Heidelberg also factored into the decision.

“Diana has always had a good reputation in the industry; so after looking at all the options available to us, we decided that this was the best suited to our business needs.”

Delga Press will now have four dedicated glue lines for folding cartons, meaning they can leave certain lines set up in popular formats.

With this, the company expects to increase makeready speeds coupled with the ability to reduce the number of makereadies. The new machine with the updated glue system, will help bring benefits in speed of running and better control.

“As always, our staff are excited about a new investment. Operators love to run new machinery. Investing in machinery also shows our intent and commitment to progress, and I think the staff appreciate that,” added Grist.

As size restrictions for packaging will be reduced, Delga will also be able to increase its offering. Their customers will benefit from the increased capacity, and the associated improvement in service, speed and flexibility.

They have always been known as a supplier who bases their business on service, efficiency, and flexibility, and this will only serve to reinforce that.

The Diana Easy offers fast and comfortable changeover processes, and an operator-friendly design across the entire machine usage.

With speeds of up to 300 m/min, the Diana Easy is perfectly equipped for a wide range of applications.

The machine is available in the format range of 85 cm and 115 cm (33.46 and 45.28 in) and therefore can easily handle products with a maximum product length of 600 mm. Cartons of 200-600 gsm and above, and E-flute corrugated can also be easily processed.
