Mikart opts for FlexPack’s NF-150 Horizontal Sachet-Packaging machine to expand operations

USA – Mikart, a provider of contract manufacturing and packaging services, has recently acquired the advanced Flexpack NF-150 Horizontal Sachet-Packaging Machine to enhance its operations.

The new Flexpack NF-150 Horizontal Sachet-Packaging machine will be used by Mikart for clinical and commercial manufacturing packaging. The machine will enable Mikart to meet the increasing demands of its customers.

This latest strategic investment marks a significant milestone for the company in its commitment to enhancing overall production capabilities and delivering pharmaceutical products.

Mikart CEO Michael Kallelis said: “We believe that our investment in the Flexpack NF-150 marks a pivotal moment for Mikart’s expansion plan.

“The sachet packaging capabilities were developed in response to customer demand and will enhance our packaging capabilities. This will enable us to provide a broader range of packaging options for the pharmaceutical products we manufacture.”

The new machine enhances Mikart’s packaging portfolio, which includes blister packaging, cartoning, tray packaging, and unit dose cups, among others.

Mikart Product Development Services Vice President, Nazar Elkarim added: “We are excited to add the Flexpack NF-150 to our packaging capabilities.

“This machine will allow us to manufacture a wider variety of pouches, such as single or twin sachets, and different shapes. This will help us to better meet the needs of our customers as our business continues to grow.”

Early this year, Mikart invested in a new liquids and suspensions suite to enhance the development and manufacturing capabilities of complex formulations for liquid oral drug products.

The investment is in response to clients’ demand for expert contract services to develop robust and reliable liquid dosage forms.

Mikart’s clients now have access to a variety of temperature-controlled tanks that support a wide range of volumes, ranging from 4,000L to 50L.

This investment further supports our expanding capabilities in geriatric and pediatric product development and manufacturing.

Michael Kallelis at the time, said: “The new capabilities enhance our support of early to late-stage formulation development, enabling clients to rapidly scale up to GMP manufacture of clinical trial materials.

“This added capability will accelerate the development process and further distinguish Mikart’s CDMO services in the small molecule space.”

Gus LaBella, Director of Formulation Development, commented: “Manufacturing suspensions can be quite challenging on a large scale. Mikart has conducted thorough testing in this suite and the adjacent packaging area to ensure the maintenance of product quality from start to finish.”
