UK – Reel Label Solutions has invested in a Durst Tau 330 RSC E press to help scale up production capacity to meet growing demand.

The company has been using inkjet presses for more than 12 years, and when needing additional capacity its demands were exacting.

Jonathan Wright, Managing Director of Reel Label Solutions, of Pontyclun, South Wales said: “We have long experience with inkjet and have in-depth knowledge of its capabilities.

“Having carried out extensive testing, we found the Durst Tau 330 RSC E to be the best press on the market to fulfill our needs, not just for now but for our future growth. No other manufacturer could match the Durst technology.”

Wright added that with the 1200dpi print resolution, the company has found the press not only provides a leap in print quality but also sees a reduction in ink usage that allows it to compete with longer-run work.

“The operators are saying that the Durst Tau 330 RSC E is smoother and easier to operate and have been blown away by the print results,” added Wright.

The investment follows on from a £ 1.2 million (US$1.55 m) management team buyout of Reel Label Solutions, which employs 27 staff.

It specializes in high-quality labels, in particular short-run production of digital adhesive labels and flexographic label printing. Pharmaceuticals are a key market sector.

Mr. Wright added: “The initial support from the Development Bank of Wales for the management buyout put us in a position of real strength to build a long-term sustainable future.

The bank has stayed true to its word and stood by us as we’ve continued to grow over the last year. This latest investment is a real vote of confidence in our business, giving us the extra growth funding required to invest in the latest printing technology as we scale up production to meet growing demand.

“Our focus continues on maximizing efficiency and developing opportunities in existing and new markets.”

Simon Cosh, Durst’s UK & Ireland Business Development Manager explained that with Reel Label Solutions quite rightly having demanding requirements, Durst is delighted Reel chose its technology for a long-term solution.

“This investment is also another example of how increasing numbers of label converters are moving to our market-leading technology with all the benefits that include a quantum leap in print quality afforded by 1200dpi resolution,” he concluded.
