Vector Technologies opens first US sustainable injection molding plant in North Carolina

USA – Australian injection and blow molding specialist Vector Technologies Pty. Ltd. has selected Elizabethtown, North Carolina, for its debut North American manufacturing site. 

The company plans to invest US$6 million in the new facility, which will create 44 jobs in Bladen County.

Operations at the Elizabethtown plant focus on producing high-precision plastic components using post-consumer recycled resins and biodegradable compounds for packaging applications.

Vector Technologies already incorporates up to 100%  recycled content in select Australian product lines. 

The North Carolina operation will serve food, beverage, and consumer goods brands seeking North American-sourced sustainable packaging solutions.

A company spokesperson stated that proximity to major East Coast ports and raw material suppliers drove the location decision. 

North Carolina officials approved incentives tied to job creation and capital spending targets. Production equipment installation begins next quarter, with commercial output scheduled for late 2026.

The move comes as demand grows for packaging that meets upcoming US recycled-content mandates. 

In a separate development, Australian packaging producers continue pushing for mandatory recycled material quotas. 

Pact Group Chairman Raphael Geminder recently urged faster implementation of national regulations, noting that current voluntary targets have achieved only an 18% plastic packaging recovery rate. 

He advocated fees on packaging with low domestic recycled content to fund recycling infrastructure expansion.

Vector Technologies’ US entry adds to recent international investments in American sustainable plastics capacity. 

The Elizabethtown facility will feature energy-efficient all-electric injection molding machines and on-site resin reprocessing capabilities. 

Initial annual output is projected at several thousand tons of certified recyclable and compostable packaging components.

Local economic development leaders welcomed the project for bringing advanced manufacturing roles with average salaries above the county norm. 

The plant occupies a newly constructed building in the Elizabethtown Airport Industrial Park, allowing room for future expansion as North American orders increase.
