Edale launches refreshed press lineup for efficient label and carton production

UK – Edale, a company under Canon, has introduced a refreshed lineup of four presses for labels and folding cartons. 

The new models feature updated naming and a unified design that matches Canon’s style, making it easier for customers to identify suitable options.

The range includes the LabelLine FL4e and FL4p for label printing, along with the CartonLine FL6p and FL7p for folding cartons. 

These presses come in two performance levels: Essential for standard daily operations and commercial flexibility, and Precision for high-volume work with advanced automation.

Lachlan Buirds, Managing Director at Edale, stated in an announcement that the changes focus on clarity for buyers. 

He explained that customers can now select presses based on current needs, such as dependable production in the Essential tier or scaling for premium jobs in the Precision tier.

Buirds added that the machines retain Edale’s core engineering, including single-pass processing, high-definition flexo quality, and smart automation to enable converters to achieve more efficient output.

The LabelLine FL4e serves as a compact 430mm narrow-web press suited for short-to-medium label runs. It offers quick changeovers, minimal waste, and straightforward operation. 

In contrast, the LabelLine FL4p handles 430-570mm widths with precise registration, optional inline embellishments, and modular additions for faster premium label production.

For cartons, the CartonLine FL6p operates at 600-650mm widths in a single pass, combining printing, varnishing, embellishment, die-cutting, and stripping to lower work-in-progress, shorten lead times, and save factory space. 

The larger CartonLine FL7p supports 760-1000mm formats for bigger or higher-volume jobs, with compatibility for advanced embellishments and future expansions.

All models maintain Edale’s key technologies for efficiency. Certain CartonLine setups can also handle both carton and label jobs on one line, providing versatility for mixed operations.

These presses emphasize low-waste features through fast setups and single-pass capabilities, aiding converters in reducing material use during production.

In related developments, hybrid presses that blend digital inkjet with flexographic methods continue to advance in the industry. 

A recent feature on such technology highlights their role in combining speed, versatility, and inline finishing to further minimize waste in label and packaging workflows.
