Canpac acquires Krishna Creation, adds KBA press, 10th India plant in Ahmedabad

The acquisition extends Canpac’s presence in the specialty, gift, and premium packaging segment, transitioning the company from a regional folding carton player to a diversified packaging platform serving Indian consumer brands.

INDIA – Canpac has acquired Krishna Creation, an Ahmedabad-based folding carton and rigid box packaging manufacturer, and will jointly set up a new greenfield plant in the city as part of a strategic expansion into India’s premium packaging segment.

The acquisition marks Canpac’s fifth acquisition and follows a 15-year growth trajectory from a single plant to ten facilities, with the company reporting a 25 percent compound annual growth rate over that period.

Krishna Creation’s client portfolio includes Welspun, Renee Cosmetics, Indocount, Damson, and Trident, bringing established relationships in the premium packaging space.

New Ahmedabad Plant Houses KBA 106-7 and Komori Presses for Premium Packaging

The greenfield facility, scheduled to arrive in September 2026, will be Canpac’s third unit in Ahmedabad and tenth overall in India.

The plant will house a new KBA 106-7 color coater with UV capabilities alongside an existing Komori 6-color UV press, supported by a range of post-press equipment for rigid paper packaging, folding cartons, and gift bags.

The KBA Rapida 106-7+LTTL CX ALV3 HYBRID press, known for its high-speed performance of up to 20,000 sheets per hour, includes advanced features such as fully automatic plate changing, inline quality measurement, and UV interdeck drying systems that are particularly suited for premium packaging applications.

The combination of these presses positions the new facility to serve both high-volume and specialised premium packaging requirements with exceptional print quality and efficiency.

Canpac’s Diversified Platform and Premium Segment Strategy

The acquisition extends Canpac’s presence in the specialty, gift, and premium packaging segment, transitioning the company from a regional folding carton player to a diversified packaging platform serving Indian consumer brands.

Sagar Makhija, M&A head at Canpac Trends, stated that the partnership brings together Canpac’s operational scale with Krishna Creation’s design and finishing expertise, representing a step towards the premium and luxury segment of packaging in India.

The two teams will now work together to grow the business, combining Canpac’s scale and process discipline with Krishna Creation’s boutique craftsmanship.

The acquisition follows Canpac’s established pattern of early adoption of advanced KBA press technology, as demonstrated by its previous investments in highly configured RA 106 and RA 105 presses for its Kolkata plant.
