CuBE Packaging allocates over US$30M to Illinois plant expansion

Covering facility upgrades and staged injection moulding machine deployment with integrated end-of-line automation, the project has its first phase running, later stages continue through 2027.

USA – CuBE Packaging Solutions has committed more than US$30 million to expand its production site in St. Charles, Illinois, covering facility upgrades and staged deployment of injection moulding machines with integrated end-of-line automation.

The project encompasses facility upgrades and the staged deployment of injection moulding machines equipped with integrated end-of-line automation.

The first phase of the site development is complete and running, with subsequent stages scheduled to continue through 2027.

Staging the equipment rollout allows production to ramp without halting existing output, and integrated end-of-line automation reduces manual handling between moulding and packing stages.

Site Supports US Operations Alongside Ontario Base

Operational since late 2025, the St. Charles site provides a base for CuBE’s US operations alongside its primary location in Aurora, Ontario.

The company describes its facilities as single-site food storage injection moulding operations in North America.

The current project will add manufacturing jobs in St. Charles and the Fox Valley area.

Philippe Erhart, chief executive of CuBE, said St. Charles gave the company a scalable American manufacturing platform, brought it closer to customers, and provided capacity, automation and infrastructure to support growth for years ahead.

Reusable Polypropylene Containers Serve Foodservice

Established in 2009, the manufacturer produces reusable, recyclable polypropylene food containers designed to be microwave, dishwasher and freezer safe.

It supplies grocery, retail, restaurant and foodservice accounts in the United States and Canada.

Reusable polypropylene containers occupy a growing segment as foodservice operators face pressure to reduce single-use packaging, with durable formats offering repeated use across takeaway, catering and food storage applications.

Municipal and Investor Support for Expansion

Clint Hull, mayor of St. Charles, said a strong economic base included a healthy mix of businesses and industries, with manufacturing an important part of that mix.

He added that CuBE’s multi-million-dollar investment demonstrated confidence in St. Charles as a place where businesses could grow and succeed. CuBE Packaging is a portfolio company of Kent Road Capital.

Ian Kessler, partner at Kent Road, said CuBE’s management team had delivered growth while maintaining product quality and customer service standards, adding that the expansion positioned the company to serve US customers with greater speed, scale and resilience.
