UK – BoxWay Packaging Group, a leading corrugated cardboard packaging firm, has appointed Bryan Crennell to the newly established position of Group Managing Director.

With an extensive track record spanning over 30 years in senior management, Crennell brings specialized expertise in sales and marketing, particularly in the print and packaging industry, where he served with distinction at Elanders and Harrison Packaging.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Crennell stated, “I am very much looking forward to leading, supporting, and driving the business in this next phase following further very recent and wise investment to improve production capabilities at both the Peterlee and Exeter sites.

“With a talented and highly experienced workforce across key areas of the business alongside some exceptionally loyal customers, we are extremely well-placed to grow significantly and sustainably over the coming years.”

Andrew Woollard, Chief Executive, welcomed Crennell, emphasizing the strategic timing of his arrival as BoxWay Packaging Group enters a pivotal stage of growth.

Woollard expressed his excitement about Crennell’s role in steering the next phase of the group’s development following a substantial investment program.

The ongoing investment initiative, initiated in 2021, has focused on enhancing infrastructure, including Finance, IT, HR, and Design, while concurrently augmenting the company’s capability and capacity. Crennell’s appointment aligns with the company’s ambitious goals of achieving profitable sales growth.

Woollard noted, “Bryan brings a wealth of experience in supplying the food, beverage, household & healthcare markets and has a strong skill set with an excellent reputation for leadership. I am very much looking forward to working with Bryan to achieve the challenging goals we have set.”

FPA appoints Mark Byrne as new executive chair

In a parallel development, The Foodservice Packaging Association (FPA) has named Mark Byrne as its new Executive Chair, effective from February 1, 2024.

Byrne, with an extensive 33-year career in the foodservice packaging industry, takes over from the former Executive Chair, Mark Pawsey MP.

Over the past 14 years, Byrne has held senior sales roles in global organizations, including Anchor Packaging, Sharpak, RPC, and Sabert, and has been actively involved with the FPA for more than 22 years, serving half of that time as Vice-Chair.

Expressing his commitment, Byrne stated, “I am honored to have the opportunity to work even more closely with the FPA’s members, partners, and stakeholders – ensuring the interests of the entire membership are represented and their issues and concerns heard.”

Martin Kersh, FPA Executive Director, lauded the appointment, highlighting Byrne’s tireless efforts in supporting the FPA.

Kersh emphasized Byrne’s dedication to expanding the FPA’s influence within the industry, contributing to the ongoing success of both the FPA and the broader foodservice packaging sector.

Mark Pawsey, outgoing Chair of the FPA, expressed confidence in Byrne’s leadership, recognizing his significant contributions and wishing him success in elevating the FPA to new heights.
